US Embassy in Kyiv (Ukraine) is closed. What now?!

The US Embassy in Kyiv is closed. We have not received any instructions on what our next steps are. NVC could not provide us any additional information. Would cases from Kyiv be transferred somewhere? Does anyone have any information?

The US embassy has temporarily moved to Lviv due to the issue with Russia on the Ukrainian border. I hope this helps.

Average times seem to be 18 to 24 months.

Try contacting the Warsaw Embassy and see if you can transfer your case there.

Your timeline says your petition was approved and sent to the National Visa Center about 3 weeks ago.  NVC is not "the embassy".  You are not even in the queue to be assigned an interview date until you've completed everything at the NVC stage and it has been reviewed.

We have the same issue . We recently got approved form -130 IR-2 & according to Kiev US embassy website , consulate department is closed . I called NVC , according to them they are still processing Ukraine cases . Go figure . They also told me that you could transfer your case to other country, but they didn’t tell me how . What a mess!

To transfer a case, you need to email the embassy where you're planning to process the visa - Warsaw accepts Ukraine and Russia cases.

If your case is still in NVC and you try to transfer it, the things will get worse with the time lines!! It will throw you way behind!

Thank you all! Our case was transferred from NVC to the US Embassy in Kyiv, so NVC "does not have access to the case anymore and cannot transfer it". Since the US Embassy in Kyiv is closed, it looks like our case is stuck there. So far, the US Embassy in Warsaw, Poland doesn't seem to have a straightforward way of transferring our case either. It feels like we are caught in a loop.
