Well the same people told us 99% of covid hospitalizations were unvaccinated when in reality more than 60% of them are vaccinated people.

The slide on page 18 is presented confusingly, as it is headed "Summary of Child Hospitalization Data from 5/21/20 –9/30/21" The first column on this slide containing hospitalization data is for all ages, with the second column for children. It's a silly way to present data, in my opinion. But then again, this is just my guess. 

 

That there were corrections is important. There is plenty of "reporting" out there that does not get corrected. It is also important that corrections get pointed out and sloppiness get called out. This was definitely sloppy. It would be good to see the reporter comment on why she got things so grossly wrong.

 

At the same time, 63,000 kids in the hospital from COVID is still awful. All the parents I know who have kids in the 5-12 age group can't wait to get their kids vaxxed. I had dinner on Wednesday with my friend whose daughter is almost 10 and in a LAUSD school in a very nice part of Sherman Oaks. She said the kids in her daughter's class are very serious about staying masked in class and are waiting for the final word on vaccination anxiously. They want to keep the people around them safe. I asked if her daughter and her classmates resented masks and she said nah, they're just happy to be together again. They hate getting sent home to isolate if someone in their class gets COVID, so taking precautions on their own part helps keep everyone safe. The kids are doing just fine, it's some of the parents who are off the rails.

I don't know ANY parents who want to purposely lower the health of their children, or make them sicker on purpose.  

 

Two of my personal doctors wouldn't let their kids return to public schools until stupid "mask mandates" went away.  Kids need oxygen, and they need to see faces to increase learning.

Well, you guys have very different experiences than out here. The idea that kids aren't getting oxygen because of face masks is (and I quote my mom here) "preposterous." But you know, we're doing pretty good here in terms of virus spread and hospitalization. We're going to keep doing what we're doing. You don't want us to impose our standards on you, and that door swings both ways.

I would never make my 3 year old wear a face diaper under any circumstances. I see other people making their young children wear one and to me its borderline child abuse.

I agree.  And two of my doctors do too (still home schooling until masks are not required in schools).  Masks are unhealthy over the long term.  Anyone who cannot see that is... well, blind to reality.

My step son's school isnt requiring masks. However a few weeks ago he supposedly came in contact with another student who tested positive so they gave us the choice of him taking the faulty PCR test and him wearing a mask at school for 14 days or staying home for 14 days. We took the second option.

As are most of the parents in our school district. Hence the reason the schools aren't mandating masks under normal circumstances. The school board basically admitted the only reason they are requiring the masks under the circumstances my step son was in is because their attorneys are advising them to in order to avoid liability.
