Hi Folks,

I'll be traveling internationally soon, and I was wondering if anyone has experience using global entry with the extension letter and the expired green card. I already have global entry: i'm just curious how the extension letter and expired card combo would work with the kiosks, or do I have to line up with visitors. My home airport is JFK.

You can do either. Go whichever is shorter. The kiosk will likely print the pass with big X.

Global Entry won't work as it's tied the green card in addition to the passport. The kiosk won't even print out the receipt.  But Mary's experience is just to go thru global entry line and they bring it up and say ok and we will update it when you get a new green card.  We have done this a bunch of times.

I used global entry. You just need to scan your passport, which your global entry card is connected with. I just scanned my passport and the kiosk took a picture of me and printed out a receipt kind of thing. The officer/guard near there took it from me and let me go inside. I did not even got my expired greencard or my extension letter out during this whole process. My port of entry was Detroit.

Would like to ask SS_SS about how the experience was when you came back to the US in Nov. Or anyone who might know the answer to the below questions.
I have Global Entry and expired Green Card with Extension Letter. I would like to know (1) if I can just use Global Entry kiosk. (2) or I should see an immigration officer. I called the Global Entry JFK and they told me that I should go to a line designated for Global Entry holder with expired Green Card with Extension Letter. I didn't know there is such a separate line. I will arriving at JFK airport. Thanks.

Hi, I used my expired GC at the global entry kiosk but it didn’t work. So I stood in the permanent resident/citizen line and the immigration officer let me in. No secondary screening. Was pretty quick.

What about the wording on GE website saying LPRs must use their i-551 at the kiosk? Were you admitted to the US as LPR?

We got back from UK about 10 days ago.  I am US Citizen and my wife just got her 10 year GC.  Both of us have had Global Entry (GE).  For me, GE worked fine.  For my wife, neither her British passport nor her GC worked (even though she updated her new 10 year GC expiration date on GE web site prior to our departure).  However, the officer just looked at her GC and confirmed picture matched her and then he let her thru.

By the way, at least at LAX international terminal, GE does NOT print out anything anymore (new procedure).  It simply takes a picture of you and displays a green check mark on the screen (which I assume it means everything is OK). Upon leaving GE kiosk area, there is an officer with an iPad who confirms there is a green check mark next to your picture on his iPad.  Very fast and quite efficient.
