Weird question, once your immigration journey is over and you’ve got your green card, what is everybody doing with the copies of your application and paperwork?

are you keeping it like your tax returns just in case or shredding it?

also apologies in advance for those of you still waiting that might be following this topic, hopefully your cases will be completed soon

I would think the immigration journey is over when you raise your hand and swear allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.  I would not throw away anything until then.

We applied for N-400 in March 2022 (3 year marriage rule). We found out yesterday the N-400 interview is scheduled for next month. No word/change to the status of i-751 so looks like we are just moving on to naturalization - but of course we will prepare for both just to be sure.

I had my naturalisation interview yesterday but they didn’t do a combo interview as the officer said my I-751 is still stuck in Nebraska. He said he will put in a request for it. He said I’m very passable but cannot make a decision until he gets the I-751 filing. I’m now just stuck in limbo :(. Anyone else had this issue?

Wow, what!?  I thought the naturalization would just supersede the i-751. I hope that you have a swift resolution. We have our N400 interview coming up in 3 weeks, but no news yet on the i-751, so probably the same situation as you. Will let you know how it goes for us!

In regards to that, I have question. Did you uploaded your I-797 notice for I- 751 on Naturalization application N-400 ?

 

I have not uploaded and I was thinking to upload but I am not sure. Because my I-751 is stuck at Ready for interview and some folks says after applying their status changed to "Case is transferred to new Jurisdiction office/area".

 

Can anyone advise, please ?

I included it with my filing. Mine does not say it’s ready for an interview. It never did so I think you should get lucky!

It supersedes it in a sense that they’re scheduling n400 quicker than the i751 application, and normally they’ll do combos. For some reason, my i751 filing wasn’t sent to my local office. Not sure who dropped the ball on it. I included my i751 receipt with my n400 filing but I did a paper filing, not online filing. Now I just have to wait for Nebraska to send my filing to my local office, or Nebraska won’t be responsive and they’ll end up approving me there, and only then can my local office approve my n400. It was just bad luck, but that’s ok.

The N-400 can't be approved until I-751 is approved first.  Sometimes USCIS has their ducks in a row, and they do a combo interview for both I-751 and N-400 with both files.  In other cases, they do the N-400 interview first and then request the I-751 file from wherever it is so that a final decision can be made on both.  It's crazy that in 2022 the I-751 case files are not digital, an officer should be able to bring up everything on a computer, for both the I-751 and N-400 at the interview, but for some strange reason it doesn't always work that way.

I had a paper copy of the i-751 filing which I gave him with a list of documents i included. (I didn’t print off the evidence of marriage but I included a list). He still needed to wait for the actual filing. 
 

do you know any chance by reading on this forum how long it normally takes after they request the filing?

Welp, senator from my state replied back about my request on ROC exceeding normal processing time. USCIS denied the request to adjudicate ROC before N400 interview. I guess filing N400 doesn't help expedite my case.
