Hi, my fiancé submitted our K1 packet at the end of February but we still haven’t received any communication. I understand with covid everything shut down for ages, but I have seen that other couples who submitted in March had received their first NOA, whereas we have received nothing. We paid the extra fee for email notifications. Is there any way we can contact USCIS to see what’s happening with the visa? We are losing hope and getting really stressed out about it. Thank you for any help you guys can offer!

I have never heard of an extra fee for email notifications 🤔

you can submit an online inquiry on USCIS since your case is outside normal processing time.

there’s also a thread for February filers that could be useful to read through:

This is not a thing.  There is a form for this, but no extra fee.

Was your payment processed?  Check cashed/credit card charged?

I'm curious as to why you are just now investigating this, as even with COVID, you should have received the NOA1 >6 months ago.

I thought you’re talking about the NOA2. NOA1 you should have received 4-6 weeks after USCIS receives it...

https://www.dhs.gov/ombudsman-update-mailing-issues-have-you-not-received-uscis-document-or-card

the link above mentions which number to call to reach the USCIS and then also includes steps if you’re not able to get any help from the USCIS.

Your outside normal processing times and therefor you should submit an inquiry. Go to https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ to determine your processing timeline according to where USCIS is currently adjudicating I-129f filings.

It's hard not to but don't compare you journey with others. Yours and theirs are not the same. You have different families, distinct cultures, diverse backgrounds, different countries and therefor you are being unfair to yourself as you are putting yourself in a tizzy over this. Let's not lose hope and engage yourself in finding out where your file is in this stage. Use the link above and take control of your destiny. Good luck and stay engaged in the process.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Evidently the issue is that they never even received the NOA1, either electronically, or via paper mail.

I agree with what you opined but there is no indication that they have that is evidential to being approved. So, they have two issues, one has they been approved, and the other is where is their NOA1. Neither of which are takeaways for me. I'm scratching my head on the "fee" they state they paid for the email alert for the NOA1. I'm clueless about that.

There is no fee for electronic notification that your petition was received.

Did you use a lawyer or an agency to help you with the filing process?

How did you pay the filing fees?  A check, if so, was it cashed?  or if you used a 3rd party to assist you on filing, did you just pay them?

Please forgive these questions... Are you sure the K1 packet was mailed in February?

If yes, who exactly mailed it out? Was it your fiancé or a third party? Which address was it sent to?

I so agree with this tracking. To  submit almost  10 months later and you haven't done nothing. I don't understand. Have you tracked your money (Check money order) is it cashed  Why haven;t you called USCIS and inquired. Sounds like you went through a third party let me guess Rapid Visa?

Your package likely never reached USCIS, you need to start from scratch and refile.

A few questions though:

1. Who sent the package?

2. What does the tracking say? (Delivered?)

3. Was the filing fee ever taken out of your account?

4. What is this extra fee you speak of?
