You need to focus on figuring out what is the medical issue first before any sort of expedite comes into play. They’ll need documentation anyway, and the timeline for an expedite may result in negative effects in the meantime to their condition.

Do whatever you need to do to figure out what the issue is ASAP. Best wishes for all of you.

I did not realize that Bells Palsy could move down the body?  Oh I found this, It does not need to be the petitioner who is sick.  " In special situations, the expedite request can be accepted if there are urgent humanitarian reasons behind. To give an example, you may have a family member in need of treatment, or you may need some critical medical treatment with time-sensitive action. These are only a few examples, and there could be way more based on what USCIS considers a valid humanitarian reason."

family member in need of treatment would be worth a try

medical B1/B2 for seeing specialist here can be faster if dr will refer you

Thanks, but I know first I need to get a damn neurologist and not a damn general doctor who probably has no idea of these kind of problems.  Monday both me from here and my MIL from Mexico will be demanding help

Many of the best hospitals in the US/world will also offer second opinions if you send the patient's file.

Look up their website for instructions.

MGH, for example:

Thank you so much for this information!

Just one consideration... some health insurance providers will not cover pre-exisiting conditions and/or have time limits when it comes to making a claim for new policy holders..

If you’re not yet on your husbands insurance like you mentioned any treatment in the US could cost you thousands since your son already suffers from the condition... so for now I’d recommend you focus on getting diagnostic’s and review any insurance policy before thinking about expidite, or you could end up in a far worse situation than treatment within your home country

My spouse can add us to his work insurance if we are in the USA

I really wish your child to quickly recover from this medical condition. Regarding health insurance, many times it does not cover pre-existing conditions. Please verify with your wife’s insurance.

A friend of mine is now flighting with that syndrom. At first they thought it was because COVID but it ended up being caused by a mosquito that gives you the WEST NILO FEVER. He lives in Miami and now he's improving a lot but he is still in intensive care and being monitored 24/7.

Every ACA-compliant plan (including employer-sponsored ones) must cover pre-existing conditions.

Certainly confirm that it covers this specific condition and figure out any OOP expenses associated with it, but it being a pre-existing condition shouldn't be an issue.

Agreed.. also impacts of premium increases post claiming..

also while they say she should be able to be added after moving here due to life changing circumstances etc, many still don’t apply that rule and make you wait until general enrolment I know I for one had a heck of a time getting added as a spouse it seems harder than getting added as k1 post marriage than some time after marriage as ir1

Marriage is a qualifying event, maybe the must common qualifying event, it shouldn't be a problem.  If HR do no follow their own rules, then it's time to escalate.

I'm sorry you had difficulty enrolling.

Marriage yes, but they say added to policy within 90 days of marriage, easy for k1 not so easy for ir1 when you’re still out of country or arrive a year or two later

When moving internationally, one usually loses coverage in the country they are departing; the qualifying event is then loss of coverage.

I wish HR were there to help employees :(
