Good Morning , I have a concern and would be glad if anyone could help me .

I have been married since 2015 and i became a conditional permanent resident in 2017 and then I recently applied to remove conditions on my green card which was approved and I was given my 10years green card.

when is it eligible to file for citizenship? And what do I do if I lost my recently issues green card? Please help me

Hello JFH,

thank you for your response but can you please explain “the resident Since ” date?

does it mean I am eligible to file now?

Look at your GC...What is the "residence since" date written on it? That's what @JFH is referring to

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

It would appear he’s lost his green card according to the OP.

When you say lost, what have you done with regard to reporting it lost? My understanding is that if you don’t have it in your possession you will have to file an I-90, and depending on how it came to be lost, possibly file a police report.

Thank you all so much for your responses.

My conditional green card was issued in October of 2017 and the conditions were removed in June of 2020... So it’s about 3 years now since I got my green card.

And I recently lost my belongings with my green card alongside with it,I filed a police report already and I am in the process of filing the I-90 but what I want to know is if I’m eligible to file for my citizenship as well..

You can apply for citizenship now if your original card was issued October 2017. But you need to file I-90 for the lost card first and include a copy of your I-90 receipt notice with the N400. The N400 requires a copy of your green card or I-90 receipt notice if your card has been lost, damaged or stolen.

Edit: if OP received green card through marriage he can apply based on 3 year rule, if not he has to wait 5 years.

@MichaelZungu, what is the category on your green card?

I have a question regarding this @JFH does that date normally start from the date you would have applied for AOS (in my case) or the date of actual issuance of your first 2 year GC?
