Given all the problems in Bogota and neighboring Brasil will the embassy in Bogota consider doing final interviews via Skype or Zoom?

anything we say here is guess work 

but i would think the embassy would wait for the ban to be lifted to tell people to do medical exams as the visa expiration date is 6 months from date of that

why would they ask someone to do them and skype and interview when the medical and visa could expire before the ban is lifted?

Is it possible they will implement that? Yes.

 

is it likely to have video interviews? No, IMHO. It would be something brand new that has not been announced, requires setup, and requires training. There's also severe security issues involved. They don't even normally allow electronic devices of applicants in the embassy or consulate, let alone software that could be compromised, could be recording, etc.

 

Is it likely to happen via Skype or Zoom? Heck no. I cannot see the DOS consular services using those particular services security-wise.

The problems are not only in Bogota and Brazil. I don’t see any way that this could happen abroad with local governments having control over internet security. Within the US? Maybe. In some years.

I wouldn't think that a virtual interview is something that would be considered as there are too many factors to consider. One that glares at me is the inability to judge body/psychological appearances. A good interviewer will use those to determine the beneficiary's willingness to be honest. Just my opinion.

Congress is using zoom and "close connection" is a bit of an overstatement.

 

I don't see them doing interviews over video though. There are certain things you only get when you're interviewing someone face-to-face.
