Hello everyone! I am about to initiate my application for Citizenship. I came to the US with a K1 Visa and just got my Removal of Conditions approved and have had a green card for more that 3 years, so I am eligible and ready to start this new process.

 

Reading this forum I see that everyone has submitted their application online. So far I have used the services of RapidVisa, and they have always been key support for us to fill in the applications and have extra set of eyes checking for omissions, typos, mistakes etc. I have never gotten an RFE, and other that just waiting for ever, I have been lucky to achieve every step of the way with no hiccups.

 

When I approached them with the N400 application, they mentioned they do not offer assistance when submitting the N400 online. They only support submitting it as a paper application via the lockbox.

 

My question to you all is if anyone knows if there is any difference between submitting online or via lockbox? Is there any benefit of doing it online?  Going into the myuscis website I see you can add your paper application receipt number, once you have one.

I really liked being able to apply online. You get responses immediately and pay right online. Our NOA was received like a day later online but a week later by mail. I also got the biometric appt earlier online than the mail. Have you reviewed the application? Check it out and see if you feel comfortable doing it yourself. It was very do-able! I printed it out and filled it by hand then typed it up once I had everything and scanned the documents.

Just a comment; I will be filing in March and have been working through the online system. It is very easy to navigate and self explanatory, I wont be using a lawyer.

 

I originally went with a lawyer for my GC application. Afterwards he told me that folks typically don't use his services for straight forward N400 applications; said the process is much simpler than the GC application and a lawyer or 3rd party would be a waste of one's money.

Agreed. We have no legal troubles, no kids,  one address. Completed it real quick.

Most people with straightforward N400 cases don't use a lawyer, correct.

Finally submitted my N400 today.

Hopefully there won't be any hiccups and everything will go smooth.

It is still under "protected" status by Johnny5 and people are just adding the last few rows with no organization.  We cannot seem to re-organize it because of this "protected" status. I think it would look much better with organized dates.  Again, if Johnny5 knows how to organize it, please do it or just cancel this protection status so that we may re-organize the page.  Thanks again...
