Hi,

I'm a November 2019 filler, I never posted before but I followed this thread.

My case status just changed to "Case Was Sent To The Department of State" does this mean USCIS approval?

Yes this means your case has been approved and sent to NVC. You might want to look at under documents tab in my USCIS account you will see the approval notice/letter has been sent out. This answer is based on my case/status only. Look out for the email from NVC very soon. Hope this helps! Best of luck!

Congratulations!

Is this F2A category or IR1/CR1? I mean is spouse holding Green Card or is a US Citizen?

Same here just got an email from NVC that they will be setting up an interview date with my hometown embassy. Question: Can you set up the medical exam not having the interview notice yet? I thought you had to wait until that notice to be able to go for medical exam.

Based on this document from 2016, you can set up your appointment as long as you have your case number. I hope that is still true today.

I see that you filed for IR-5 Visa. I have no idea, but do you think USCIS is processing these visas slightly behind CR-1/IR-1 visas? Have you followed any other IR-5 filers who have been approved around the same time you filed?

It’s for parent which is currently banned under Executive Order. Filed in April 2020 so still there is long time to go.

The good thing is that USCIS is still processing applications even through Covid-19. Hopefully by the time you have finished the NVC stage, countries will have opened up more and your interview will be scheduled.
