Did I get approved?

Hi all! Just had my interview today and had an interviewer who didn't come across as the most friendly. She asked the typical questions I expected but didn't keep the passport photos, and when I asked she said she didn't need them - I thought these were used for the visa?

She kept my passport and just said 'everything seems to be in order' - I asked 'great, is that all then?' and she just said 'thank you, goodbye' and that was it..

I'm guessing this is good news? Thanks for any advice - just full of nerves today!

Did you dress correctly?  That was the most important thing.

If she kept your passport, it is a good sign......However, approval is not official until the status changes to "Issued"......hopefully soon.

From what I remember they scan your passport photos into their system and hand them back to you. As said, if they kept your passport then that’s a good sign

They don't keep the passport photos. They scan it into the system and return them to you.  Hang onto those though, because you'll need a ton of those photos for AOS/EAD/AP after you get married.

What @missileman said - she kept your passport, which is what they need for the visa. If she had returned your passport, then we would tell you to worry :D

They scan the photos now and give you back the originals.

I was way more direct than you. I asked if we had approval.

If she said everything seems to be in order then it looks like you're imminentcoloradogrl.

Damn, forgot my evening gown 😂 That's probably what it was!

Thanks all! Everyone else waiting was so nice and friendly in the waiting area; the interview was so fast and I panicked due to nerves and forgot to ask - she just said 'thank you, goodbye' and left as there was no one else waiting. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

You’re good.  No blue slip, kept passport, i’m guessing in a week or two you’ll see a status change to issued

By the way, the way you described the officer is quite normal with some of them. I had a man who was quite a character for my IR-1 interview and I could hear the woman at the next window doing an interview and she was quite chatty. But there are some who are very methodical and “dry” about the whole process. Especially when it’s a nice easy case like yours. It’s just another day at the office for her. But life-changing for you. They just go through the motions. I’ve heard of many people here wondering if they were actually approved because it went the way yours did.

Thanks, that's good to know! I had a young guy at the first window asking for documents who was very friendly (but also quiet - had to politely ask to repeat himself a couple of times). I could overhear the other interviewers being very chatty asking about all sorts.

Fingers crossed, I'll be watching emails and the case tracker!

That does sound like good news 😊 I do love reading people's stories and experiences. Gives me hope that one day it will be me, and I can give the people that are still waiting hope.

Let us know when you get your status change.

Thank you, I'll be sure to keep updating & also post a full embassy review to help others once everything is approved.

It'll be you before you know it! It doesn't seem long ago at all that we were sending off all the paperwork to USCIS.

They kept my passport photos.

Does it mean that someone, somewhere, carries one of my pics in his wallet while the other is used in the darkest room at his home on a creepy psycho altar?
