Why would an I130 application be forwarded to a local office when the beneficiary is not in the USA?

Greetings,

My I-130 application was initially transferred to Potomac service center (priortity date 9/24/18) to the National Benefits Center 5 months later around February 1st. I am the USA citizen petitioner and recently received a notice to come to my local immigration office for an official matter on the 25th of March. The beneficiary is in Jamaica and NOT in the USA. The letter states to bring the letter, passports, marriage certificate, birth cert for me and the beneficiary and evidence of a bona fide marriage. I am confused and seeking  any information as to why a request was made to come to a local office and is this request solely for me but why?

My original i130 contained these requested documents along with i130a.

We are not adjusting status as he is in Jamaica.

The letter does reference his A number as he was already known to immigration.

Thank you for any insight.

I get background checks yearly as an educator and from my other sources because I work with youth. I don't have a criminal history beyond parking tickets and no offences towards minors whatsoever. I appreciate your response.

Very strange then. It's always possible it's a mistake.

Have you ever petitioned someone else?

Also, are you a naturalised US citizen? If so, how and when did you obtain your US citizenship?

Would you mind sharing details on this point?  Might shed light on the strange request.

Yes, I can share. Spouse had a tourist visa to enter USA and that visa was revoked.

Why was it revoked? Misrepresentation?

I honestly didn't 100% quite understand it based on our discussion and the paperwork. It had something to do with funds (not enough to support) and a flight ticket. I don't think it was misrepresentation.

hi

how much proof of bona fide marriage did you send with the i130?   the main reason for being sent to a local office for interview is that there wasn't enough bona fide evidence to approve the i130. that's why they are requesting that you go and take all the proof you have in order to approve the i130

sometimes they send an RFE, to send the evidence by mail, other times an interview at your local office to bring the evidence at the local office

take all you have as it states in the letter, the officer will ask you questions about your marriage and review your evidence in order to approve the i130

Get all available info from the beneficiary on this before your interview. Did he provide a fake bank statement as part of his visa application?

Hello, I sent chat/call logs, passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts of our travels while in Jamaica (displaying both our names), an insurance document listed him as spouse/no driver, a few pics from our elopement and visits and marriage certificate. At that time of submission it was perhaps my 5th visit.
