  1. Hiya everyone, I'm an American female married to a British man and preparing his petition. I have indefinite residency in the UK, but we missed the window to file through DCF. I've returned to the US to get a job and get a home set up. We'll be married for 2 years in October so I'm waiting until after to send the petition. Does going through the IR-1 route take less time than the CR-1? Or is it running about the same? Thank you for any information or advice 🙂
  2. Hi all! I've almost finished gathering all the documents for my spouse's I-130 petition and am looking to file online (from Japan) within the next week or so. However, it looks like we may have to move from our apartment back to her in-laws house at some point towards the end of the year due to the corona economy taking a hit on our incomes. With this in mind, I'm listing my mailing address as her in-laws address on the I-130A and online application, but our apartment is still listed as our current address. I have a few questions regarding this topic: 1. Are we able to change our address during the petition process? If so, are we to alert UCSIC directly of the change? 2. Has anyone ever experienced a delay in their petition due to a change of address? 3. Since our mailing address will be stable, can we rest assured knowing USCIS will use it as their point of contact with us? Thank you very much in advance for your time!
  3. I am sponsoring my husband from Dominican Republic. The only thing I have heard from uscis was the notification that they had received my paperwork on June 30th, 2020. I get emails from this site saying estimates that we could be approved around late May- late June. While that is extremely exciting if that’s true, my employer who is a lawyer looked into my case filing center and apparently they are still working on November 2019 cases ugh. I’m really wondering if there is any way to know or even estimate when we could be approved at this point. Or anything to do to speed things up? I know Covid made some major delays in their offices. Also for a household of 2, just my husband and I, how much money do I have to show that I make?
  4. Hello, my wife and I are trying to apply for the cr-1 visa online but we have reached some roadblocks. How do you upload a passport photo? Can you take a pic of the passport photo on your phone or scan it? We are afraid that it will get denied if we send a picture of a picture in. Also, our marriage license has creases in it which is not supposed be visible in pictures when uploaded on the site. Does it matter if the creases are seen? Thank you for your help!
  5. Hello VJ members, I'm not trying to create multiple posts, So will ask all questions in same thread. 1. I'm about to file for I-130 online while spouse is abroad. I have a pending N-400 based on 5 years (Divorced on 2019), Would that be a problem for me on my N-400 interview. Do you guys recommend me to first finish my N-400 and then file I-130 for my spouse? 2. Is cover letter required for I-130 online, or is it recommended? 3. So far I have below lists of evidence, Could anyone check if I'm missing anything. Marriage Certificate (Current Spouse) and Divorce certificate (Previous spouse) Marriage pictures of Wedding, honeymoon. Letter from my spouse's bank abroad that says I have been added to her account. Hotel receipts and air tickets that has both of our names Letter from 401K and life insurance from my job that has my spouse added. All video call history logs from Messenger that has established that we been talking for a while. Please provide any advice or if I'm missing anything important for I-130.
  6. I currently live in an apartment but my address on my license and for everything else is registered to my parent's address. I do not plan on changing the address to my apartment. Everything I apply for, jobs, insurance, etc. I use my parent's address. But for the spousal application should I use my own address or my parent's address?
  7. My husband and I are currently preparing our documents to apply for the spousal CR1 visa online. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience and/or tips for filing this initial petition online? I'm confused whether we need to provide all of our supporting evidence/documents when filing the initial petition online or when I go for my interview in Montreal? Seems like both but do people tend to bring more proof to their interview? I should mentioned - we are doing consular processing. I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is an American citizen. If anyone has any advice for consular processing as well, it would be much appreciated :) So far for supporting evidence we have: Our marriage certificate Joint bank account in the USA Joint credit cards in the USA Utility bills with both of our names on it (electric, internet etc.) Letters, texts and cards we've sent to each other Lease with both our named on it in NY (although I do not live in the states currently) Affidavits from family and friends Google doc with years worth of photos of us together, clearly labeled with date and where we were Google doc of flights to and from Canada and the US, hotel stays and vacation packages Proof of my legal name change in Canada for all government documents - Proof of my legal name change for my dental hygiene/RDH licence and malpractice insurance Any additional proof we should be including? Your advice/guidance is very much appreciated! Thank you!
  8. http://chng.it/9dBT5sRPM8 Dear Russian Friends!!! Please sign the petition above for the Embassy in Moscow to start resuming their services!!! Let’s try and influence this situation together! All of us deserved to finally reunite with our loved ones! Please support me in this action! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
  9. Hi, I live in Northern Ireland so I got the visa from London but i will be flying out from Dublin as it is cheaper, easier and i will be going through preclearance there rather than in the U.S. Will this be okay if my visa was processed in the U.K. but will be flying from Ireland? Just a little worried if I’m going through customs in a different country than where i got my visa, but I’m sure this will be okay?
  10. My fiance and I are weighing the options of the CR-1 visa. I live in Denmark and he lives in California. I am continuing my university studies in Denmark for the next two years which will give us plenty of time for the estimated wait time needed for the CR-1 visa. My question pertains to the following: Could we apply and receive the CR-1 visa while I am still finishing my studies in Denmark before fully moving to the United States? Meaning, I would still be living in Denmark while the visa would be approved with the intention of moving permanently to the United States when I graduate. Additionally, would it be possible to visit the United States after receiving the CR-1 visa before permanently moving to the United States?
  11. Hey Dearest Russian Friends! My name is Daria Parkinson, I am a CR-1 spousal immigrant visa applicant from Moscow, Russian Federation. Regarding the United States Embassy in Moscow. Please write here any news and information, if you tend to have any. Probably, as most of you might’ve noticed, their website is quite useless, as there is absolutely no info concerning the resuming of visa services. The CR-1/IR-1 visa category is now considered as “Mission Critical”, therefore, I am assuming, that those of us applied for that category, must hear some news from them soon. I am a little bit frustrated right now, because in many countries the US Embassies/Consulates began to resume their services and issue the interview dates to people, but Moscow is, as usual, silent, and just ignores everyone.
  12. We got all the other documents approved already. Just two I-864 were rejected, because we didn’t attach the last pages. Does anyone know how much time will it take now to get those approved?? Thanks so much for any responses.
  13. Dearest People, please help us with an advice! Yesterday we got an update notice from the NVC. They approved all of our provided documents (AoS, civil documents, etc.), except for the forms I-864 for my husband and his father (we have a joint sponsor). In the explaining notice they stated, that all of the pages must be submitted, so I’m assuming my husband missed uploading all of the pages. Had anyone faced this before? Do they actually need pages even that they do not read? And do they mention all of the mistakes in the explaining comment? Thanks everyone so much in advance. I was just broken today’s morning, when we got everything accepted, except those two forms. So disappointing.
  14. Hi guys, I completed my interview and my passport pick up date was in March (I got a yellow slip) . However, the day before my pick up- the embassy announced that they are closing for COVID. The country has opened officially from last week but the US embassy remains closed. I have emailed them regarding this and they reply with an automated email. Any idea how i could reach them? and when the embassy might open? My husband and I miss each other so much and it has been so long I wish i could see him soon.
  15. Do we know if the i130 petitions (spousal visa, etc.) are still being processed? It sounds like only interviews have been cancelled, but am I correct in thinking that they are still doing paperwork for the ones that haven't been approved yet?
  16. President Donald Trump said Monday that he is temporarily suspending immigration to the United States in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the "need to protect jobs." In a tweet Monday night (April 20th), the president attributed the suspension to an "attack from the Invisible Enemy" and the "need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens." Highlights (updated as of 4/21 28am PT, 2020) President Donald Trump said he will sign an executive order temporarily suspending immigration into the United States. It could come as early as Tuesday. The order will include exemptions for migrant farmworkers and immigrant healthcare workers, particularly those treating coronavirus patients, The Wall Street Journal reported. Immigration into the US has already ground to a near-halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it's unclear what immediate effects Trump's order would have. Anybody have any other news or opinions on this? Do you think it would have an effect on K1 fiance or spouse visas? https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-says-he-suspending-immigration-over-coronavirus-need-protect-jobs-n1188416 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-suspend-immigration-executive-order-coronavirus https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52363852 https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-immigration-order-to-include-farm-healthcare-exceptions-2020-4
  17. Hello! I am super thrilled knowing that we are approved!! The next step is submitting other documents and visa interview. The only problem I have right now is, I found out that my Interview Location is in Manila, PH. Where in fact I am currently residing with my husband here in the US. I am asked to to submit the DS-260 and pay other fees. No problem with that but we want to make sure first that we are in the right process. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME HOW/WHO TO CONTACT or HOW CHANGE THE LOCATION OF MY INTERVIEW LOCATION to USA not Manila, PH? Thank you so much!!
