Sir I think you misunderstood. He has no job during the year 2016-2017. That's the reason why he wasn't able to pay and I understand that taxes are for people who are EARNING (self employed or not) he just recently started to work a full time job and yes he will file his taxes when the time comes because he has the capability to do so during this time. I was just asking if past taxes could affect because he did not have any job during that time when he was in school (not working a part time job, just literally in SCHOOL)

Just get the logic. How can a person without income file his taxes?

Here is the answer that I POSTED IN MY REPLY that you seemed to miss: "I don't know if this is true for your situation but when determining whether you need to file a return, you don't include tax-exempt income. In 2018 for example, if you are under age 65 and single, you must file a tax return if you earn $12,000 or more, which is the 2018 standard deduction for a single taxpayer".

So if you read closely, you'll see that the logic in that statement is IF HE DIDN'T earn $12,000 or MORE (in his case he earned zero) he would file as a single taxpayer. But with ZERO income which is less then $12,000 he wouldn't have to pay. So, it was your logic that surprised me.

I wish you much success in your quest for a visa. You surely don't need my help.

Well if he has a business of his own, the IRS assumes that that business makes money. So he should file his taxes anyway showing $0 made so the IRS doesn't come up with an astronomical number to assess him. Believe me, they will do that. I was the one who made these phone calls to collect theses types of taxes. I would definitely urge your darling to file them asap even if it is $0,  just so that it will not be an issue for your K1. It is better to make sure you cover all your bases. I know how devastated you both would be if it delayed your life together. Good luck dear :)

Just wanted to pass this along since it has not been updated on USCIS. HHS poverty guidelines have increased for 2019. For K-1 filling with family size of 2 (husband and wife) has increased by $450 dollars per year the new 100% level is now $16,910 And once you Adjust status you will now need to meet 125% which is $21,138.

I did not mean to offend you or anything. Just because I told you to get the logic doesn't mean that I'm attacking you.

If you don't wish to reply to my questions in the future I do understand but I wish people would just refrain from being too sensitive and be more patient because some of us need to learn more.

Just to follow up your informative post, the numbers come from this web site: https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines if you want to check your family size if it is different from the example above.

Thanks.

They are the exact same numbers. What is your problem? You seem very antagonistic towards everyone. You might want to improve your people skills.

I believe he just wanted to provide a point of reference and source for the numbers, not to dispute validity of your post. At least that was my interpretation.

Don't be hating on the Greenbaum.  He is the honorary mayor of VisaJourney, and in approximately 5--6 months you will be lucky to tap into his vast reserve of NVC, packet 3, medical and interview knowledge and information.

How much money do they ask for a couple?

My post.  "Just to follow up your informative post, the numbers come from this web site: https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines if you want to check your family size if it is different from the example above."

First off, I paid you a compliment in my reply to your earlier post - "Just to follow up your informative post." The word "informative" was the compliment. I'm not sure that I am being antagonistic or that I am disrespecting you in any way. Let's continue. In the next sentence I felt that providing people with websites/Links where they could receive the same information that you received would be very helpful for those who like to see where you got your numbers from. This is something I found missing in your post so I added with a primer of "If you want to check your family...". So let's take this example which will prove my point. What happens if I am a K-1 and I have 2 K-2's, I certainty can't use your example to arrive at a poverty level for my family, I need to compare apples to apples HENCE the reason for my inclusion of the web link that you were using to arrive at your example. It's part of the sharing and helping others achieve their visa.

I hope you now understand my logic/post in providing a compliment to you, and a link to the information for others to use for their personal situation. Maybe in the future you'll see it little better. I share my experiences and the information that I have compiled through out my years being here and someday that information maybe valuable to you achieving your visa. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Its just how the messge is delievered ..i was treated rudely by you after disagreeing with someone else...we have a right to disagree...but im surprised you were nice to this person...people can change i guess...im sure everyone has valuable information to share...but it seems most people in these forums want to be right fighters and "check" other people for errors and think we just should take it...everybody has a story..this process is complicated..and we come here with vulnerability and it sucks to be told "goodbye...you are out of line...what don't you understand etc. Etc. Etc." its brutal on vj...people can say what they say once and move on...if the other person does not get it..let them be period...

I do now and humbly apologize for being too quick to respond as I did. Mea Culpa.

It's very hard to deliver a correct message on these types of information sharing forums. I say that because when given in writing you can't see that persons face or hear the tone in their voice or the inflection in the words. So invariably there are going to be missed steps, missed points, one person means this another means that. Let's not let the limitations of the written word define us. We have way more to think about than that. In a free society everyone is entitled to their own opinions I think we all realize that. I don't think anyone here just out right tries to insult or corner the market on information giving here, it's just the fact that its written and its very hard to decipher the written word. One thing for sure is we are all bound by a like goal or outcome so let's try to remember that on these forums.

So relax January is just about gone and you all have another month under your belts, it'll go fast, keep your relationships strong and your love alive!!!!!!
