I have chatted and video called my husband for nearly 3 years, after meeting in person for the first time, we married.

 

Our families and friendsfamily knew our intentions even if we had not met yet, would this be an issue for my petiton?

Meeting online isn't an issue.

The petition stage should be fine.

 

Getting married at the first in-person meeting from country with a tough consulate like Egypt may be a red flag.

Is there an age gap? Difference of religions? Anything out of cultural norms?

Red flags are overcome with relationship evidence.

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

The vast majority of the members here met their fiancee or spouse online.  It's a non-issue.

I met my husband online and we met once in person when he came to ask my dad for my hand before the wedding. We were together three years long distance before then. We have been married for just over a year now and expecting our first baby. We started filing dcf, since i came to live with him here in the philippines, after the wedding when we got past the first trimester. We didnt have any issues getting our i130 approved and we are scheduled for our interview next week. Just supply plenty of your communications and photos from the wedding. we also included a signed affidavit from witnesses and friends who see us in married life. I also put together a photo album of us since we have been together and included reciepts to movies and attractions we have gone to together. good luck.

We met online and then two weeks later I headed out to Rocky Point, Mexico by car from Phoenix to meet her.  After that we pretty much saw each other every weekend until we married one year later.  It is a non issue.

most of us probably did. we met online (facebook) feb 2016. he drove down in april. been coming down at least once a month, oftentimes more, ever since (i also go up there on occasion)

 

meeting online isnt an issue.

 

having a real relationship is.

We first had contact with my wife through a message board although we were not dating at the time. We met IRL for the first time more than a year and a half after we started courting.

 

Just make sure that your application has plenty of messages,

pictures, screen caps, call logs etc. to prove that your relationship was ongoing already before you got married 😊

When USCIS Misspells Your Name:

 

Typographical error form filled on USCIS website 1/4/2021
Contacted USCIS if there has been any progress since THEIR error (Received a Tier 1 tracking number) 2/6/2021
Contacted USCIS again as the issue remains to be resolved (Received ANOTHER Tier 1 tracking number) 3/12/2021
Apparently USCIS chat is worthless; CALLED USCIS, Tier 1 agent promised that a Tier 2 agent would call me 4/28/2021
Received a call from a nice Tier 2 officer who said I may or may not get a correct extension letter, but just in case I would be scheduled an InfoPASS appointment 5/4/2021
Went to local USCIS service center and had to deal with a nasty and entitled customer service agent who refused to give me an I-551 stamp. National Benefits Center is supposed to mail me another I-797 within 7-10 days... So I had to waste my day, taking buses for two hours one-way just to deal with this lady's attitude? 5/7/2021

After anxiously monitoring our mailbox for a few days I DID receive a corrected I-797, w00t! All documents good to go ✅ Vaccinated ✅ Ready to visit my parents in Europe for the first time in 17 months!! ✅ 5/13/2021

The lesson: Don't use the chat for anything complicated, AND keep hassling USCIS for a response...
