Is it worth it to pay for a K1 help package?

I have never done any visa before, and I am going to start the process of a K1 visa on my girlfriend from the Philippines in October.  I found a site that charges a fee of around $150 for a help package that helps you with filling out the I-129f for your K1 visa.  I am wondering has anyone used any of these help packages before?  If you have used them were they helpful?  Any help is much appreciated.

You’ll be better off saving your money & reading through the Philippines forum to get an idea of the steps you have to take. It’s fairly easy if you don’t have anything difficult that comes with your case like “visa overstays, criminal background..etc”. Take your time & also ask questions on here, everyone is very helpful.

As mentioned above, if you have a pretty straightforward case without any red flag, you can do it yourself. Follow the guides here on VJ. There's a wealth of information on VJ that will help you along the way

One of the things I was wanting to get was an example of the forms that were pre-filled out, so that I could have a guide to go from.  I do not have a difficult case, and I would say my case is very normal.  I am a retired Army Colonel, so I am used to filling out forms.  I have been reading the information here on VJ.

I think you are fully capable to do this yourself.  We military types are familiar with forms which are literal in nature.  I assume you have begun studying the guides here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides/

Ch3John,

Many thanks for posting the links.  This is the information that I was needing to have.  I will print them and use as my guide to filling out my I-129f forms.  Please give me any other tips that you might think of.  I can use all the mentoring I can get.  Thanks in advance.

Is that light or bird Colonel I'm a retired E8 and as what was said here don't waste your money on these sites and places, you can do it yourself, you and I are both in Texas not that far apart, if you'd like pm me and we can chat from one military guy to another. I filed my K1 back in May it was not difficult but as with any government program it takes "attention to detail". I'm sure you have used that phase many times in your career. Seriously you can do it yourself there is a wealth of information here from the many who have gone before you.

There are also a lot of YouTube videos on the subject but be careful as many of them are made by folks who dont really know what they are doing. I'd recommend reading the guides here and following them step-by-step.

Note: you can hire an immigration consultant to assist you if you would rather pay someone to walk you through it. They usually charge $400-700 to assist for the fiance visa. It may give you better peace of mind to have a pro walk you through everything.

I paid like $49 for a DIY package, and did not use it.  The some of the forms in the downloaded package were outdated.  Had I gone ahead and filed those forms, they would have sent the whole thing back. When I asked for a refund due to outdated forms, they just said they were the correct forms and no refunds.  I did it myself, and joined VisaJourney.   There are many links to things here, and plenty of good people to guide you when needed. Good luck!

Thanks for all the great feedback.  I will be using VJ only to do my K1 visa packet.  If you can think of anything that happened while you were going thru the process please post it, so that all of us new folks can be mentored with your knowledge.  Thanks in advance.

I'm sure everyone that helps u on this forum will be more then willing to accept payments😂😜😂😜

all honesty. If u read and do ur reasearch u don't need to hire or pay someone to fill out ur petition. I sadly enough have already done this and have found the info my lawyer is telling me is very incorrect. If.. I knew then what I do now. I wouldn't of waisted my time nor money on lawyer..
