USPS Mailing of Thick I-751 Package

I’m confused with USPS. I’m sending my 3.5” thick I-751 in a USPS box to the California Service Center PO box.

 

How should I go about mailing it? I know I want to track it, but do I send it as Certified Mail? Should I have it be signed, or just stick to the tracking?

 

im worried if I ask for certified mail or require a signature, it wouldn’t be delivered?

 

sorry but I only saw snippets of this topic on other posts but didn’t see something concrete.

Don't use USPS. Use UPS or FedEx. Their tracking is so unreliable. When I sent my AoS package last year, the tracking got to Chicago. Then "in transit" for 3 days and then it completely stopped. I freaked out and didn't sleep for a week. The following week, my husband checked our bank account and saw the checks had been cashed. I was furious LOL. Another thing recently: I had to send an important document to the East Coast. Same thing happened! Expected delivery was only three days after I sent it. Well, the tracking stopped for almost a WHOLE WEEK afterwards. Then it finally updated to "delivered". 

 

Don't use USPS.

It's up to your own discretion, when I sent mine last year May of 2017 I just ask for insurance and did not purchase for certified mail, since it's a P.O. Box i'm not sure if someone will sign it, but may application was arrived and received by USCIS

 

But some people here send it with certified mail with no problem. Sometimes it may delayed the receiving on USCIS side specially if no one is there to receive it and sign it.

This is another option just make sure you dont send it to the California P.O. box address since Private courier dont have access to P.O. box addresses. Make sure to send to the below address if you're sending to California:

You can use the USPS Express Mail Padded envelope - you might have to order one online - or there is a flat rate medium or large box that paper will lay flat in.    In any case you get tracking and it is  2 or 3 days.    

 

And make sure you have a copy of everything you send.

We used one of the USPS medium Flat Rate boxes to mail our ROC paperwork into the CSC PO Box to and had no issues with the tracking showing when it was delivered and it matched up exactly with our noa date when we got our noa in the mail. You can do the certified mail if you want, It will delay it by a day at most really if anything as someone has to sign for the package when they go to pick up all the packages for that day that came into the  PO Box but that's about it but then you have the additional confirmation of a signature that your package was received and signed for if you really need that additional confirmation. So really up to you. If you want to go the route of using Fedex, UPS or DHL, just make sure to use the other address as stated by Lemon above.

I sent my packet via USPS certified and it got from Ohio to CSC in two days.

Thanks everyone. I didn't send mine certified, I just ended up getting tracking information. I live maybe 8 miles from the CSC, so I'm hoping because it doesn't have far to travel it'll get there just fine.

 

It'll get there tomorrow, when I dropped it off at 2:30 PM. That's efficient.

I used USPS with all my application packets, used regular mail (no certified, no signature, no insurance) mailed in regular cheaper USPS envelopes or box and never had an issue. It's up to you who to use and what kind of delivery options to include. When mailing a package from USPS you get a tracking number anyway on the receipt. I never had an issue.

You could have driven to the PO where the PO Box is located and handed to a clerk. Or maybe not.

I found a cardboard protective mailer (like Staples uses to ship print order) and then shoved it in a bubble mailer. My application was only 150 pages though - sounds like yours might be running a bit larger.

 

I used USPS overnight mail and it arrived the next day before noon, and I also asked for a signature - no issues on my end!

It is being sent to a PO box so there is no one to sign for it. I did track them and had no issues with that, either. There's no reason whatsoever to spend extra money for services like FedEx and UPS.

Agreed. Ultimately it's all just personal preference. And to those that swear by Fedex and UPS, I've had both of them loose or destroy more packages then the USPS has on me so they all have their issues with mail delivery on any given day. None are perfect.
