As of today, it’s been three weeks since my creation date changed and I flipped from “immigrant status” to “nonimmigrant”. I’ve had 6 updates since then and I’m still in AP.

I know I’m getting closer, but I find it so hard not to be discouraged. All I’ve heard is how it’s only a matter of days before the visa is issued once the creation date has changed. But that’s not happening for me. And it feels like it’s never ending 😢

I know he will be approved. I won’t doubt it. Yeah I’m having hard time with the SSN.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ The only way i can do now is to authorize USCIS to get it for me. Are you going to be with him during the interview?

I will second that and say the SSN thing is a pain in the A**.

We were lucky and got a SS Card in her maiden name within her first week here.  Get it in her maiden name before marriage.   Get the card and then we goto the DMV to get a identification card for the time being until she is settled and wants to get the drivers license.  We go to the DMV after we are married, with a copy of the marriage certificate.  1) They wont issue it in her married name because the name must match what SS has on file and 2) they can issue it in her maiden name but they will only have the card valid until the expiration of the i-94.  WHich at that time was going to be about 2 months.  Not sure what the expiration  date will be now that we have adjusted status and the manager cound't answer that question when we were there.

So we go back SS with the marriage certificate to get them to change to the married name and they tell us they wont change it until we first file for adjustment of status and get a receipt notice back from USCIS with her married name on that form.

We have filed for adjustment of status about a month ago but will back to SS tomorrow to get the name changed so she can get her ID/drivers license card in her married name.

ITs a pain in the A** and living in Baltimore there are a ton of illegal immigrants running around here and I am sure they all have identification cards/drivers licenses.  We do things the right way and they make it very difficult for us but easy for them?  Frustrating.

One reason why I keep checking this thread is because we have you @Greenbaum who tirelessly answer our questions and ease our anxiety during the hardest part of the K1 process. Now I have filed AOS and got my SSN and will be applying for driver's lisence soon but I like to check on my fellow January 2018 K1 filers and see how they're doing so far.

I joined the January 2019 AOS thread but I miss someone as helpful as @Greenbaum here. I don't know why there is no experienced member there to guide us as well as you do!

:D Ah you make me blush. ;) Thanks for the accolades I appreciate them. I am glad you are getting along with your AOS and getting your SSN. I hope things continue to run smoothly for you guys.

Yes:(( we wish to have a result... Good or bad it doesn't matter already, but result:(

What country are you going to have your interview in. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks
