Glad to see there's a dedicated thread for NYC filers! Unfortunately, I think I was getting my hopes up looking at other timelines and forgetting that approvals in NYC are slow-going. My last update was that my biometrics review was completed last week, so looks like I'm in for a long wait until the next step.

My biometrics review was completed this morning, so it's waiting time for me too! Are you in Manhattan? There seem to be some differences in processing times between different NYC offices too.

I'm in Queens. When I looked up the processing times for the I-485, it seems only slightly faster for Queens (13 - 23.5 months) vs. NYC (15 - 31.5). Brooklyn seems to be even longer (18.5 - 31). Oof!

Hello everyone, very glad to find this thread on here with my fellow new yorkers. I just want to give people some news. My PD is May 24, 2018 and I am very happy to just received my appointment notice in the mail. My interview will be at Federal Plaza downtown on Feb 13th. It has been a long wait but here comes the most important (probably nerve-wracking) step in this whole process. Getting ready to prep for this very soon!

Wishing everyone a smooth timeline and don't lose hope. I am very happy that my case has about 8.5 months wait. I was expecting much longer to be honest.

Good luck on your interview. Are you in Manhattan NY ?

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I'm only at the biometrics review stage as of last week -- I'm wondering if anyone can suggest from their experience when I should try and complete my medical, I-693? I didn't submit it with my initial AOS package. I don't want to do it too early, what with processing times being so slow. Should I wait until my case is "ready to be scheduled," even if the wait for an appointment notice could be months from then? Thanks!

Normally, for applicants who did not submit I-693 initially with AOS package will receive a courtesy notice to have it done and be ready for the coming interview. From what I have been seeing on this thread, normally when they send you the notice, it usually means your interview is coming soon. I would suggest taking the medical exam the second you receive the notice. Good news is they just implemented a new policy where form I-693 is effective for 2 years since the physician signature stamp. Hope that helps.

Interesting. I did actually get a courtesy notice back in December (12/24/18) right after I got my biometrics notice. I would hope an interview was coming soon, but I'm a bit skeptical given the other timelines I've seen. I've already checked out the civil surgeons in my area, and luckily there are a few that can book immigration medical exams with a few days notice. So maybe it's best to get it done sooner rather than later, since it will be valid for 2 years?

Thanks for replying!

I just found this thread now 👌🏽 I live right in the border between Bushwick and Ridgewood and your 8.5 months gives me hope😁 cause I’m in month 7 and we’re practically neighbors!! It’d be great if we get it over with soon but like i told @LizM I’m kinda ok if they take their sweet time that way I’m married for 2 years when they call us, get the permanent green card and that’s it!!! Congratulations and Good luck 👍🏽🍀

Anybody thought about moving out to Jersey City? Processing is 10-20 months in the Newark NJ office...

Also they have lower taxes

I think they send you to the back of the line if you move 🤔 i hate NJ but tbh...I’ve been thinking about moving to east NY or even hoboken, rent is way cheaper and so is everything else and the city is a path ride away but I’m still in the honeymoon phase with nyc 🤣

The Queens office is located in 26 Federal Plaza. I can't remember which floor, but, it's there.
