After over a month of waiting at NVC I called them to for them to tell me petition got sent back to USCIS. I asked them what happened and they said they do not know to call USCIS. I called USCIS and they told me they received it back on July 31. And asked me if we had an interview yet. I said know was waiting for it to go to US embassy in Cambodia. She said she doesn't know why it came back. All she sees is that it was approved. She was a tier 2 officer. She said for me to wait for info. Could take up to 180 days. I'm so frustrated at the moment. What should I do?

Wait till the sort this out. I think 30 days would give them time. In the mean time shoot off an email to the Ombudsman at cisombudsman@HQ.DHS.GOV The Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent perspective to USCIS in an attempt to resolve problems.

Hello,

My case is sitting in NVC for over a month now when they assigned me the visa number it was going to an incorrect embassy so I send the request for change of embassy which they received it and per NVC they are still working on it and still under an admin process does anyone here had an similar situation like mine that NVC is doing the change of embassy and what is the time frame for it? This is getting frustrating I should have let them sent to the incorrect embassy and contacted myself to the embassy for the correction now I don't have any control over it.

Has anyone been denied a visitor visa prior to applying for the fiance visa? If so were you questioned on that at your interview?

My fiance will have her interview in.... about 3 hours! I'm super excited! She was incredibly nervous, and I tried to tell her not to worry.... but she will anyway! Hopefully soon I'll be booking our plane tickets!

Hi @Greenbaum! Just want to ask you something. On the ds160 there's a box asking for social security number. When I went to the US before as a j1 I was able to get my SSN. Should I put my SSN there? Or no?

And one more thing, when you're done with your ds160 and submitted it already. Is there a need to inform USEM about me completing it already?

Thank you ☺️

They aren't going to give you a new SSN because you only get one in your lifetime and it doesn't ever change. So I would say yes you have to input it because if you dont and they investigate that you DO have a SSN, they could call you out for not filling out the form completely.

What reason would you think to omit the truth?

Or no? Use the SSN you have. Once you are issued a SSN you own that SSN for the rest of your life.  So for any document that ask for the SSN use the one you originally received on J1 visa.

And one more thing, when you're done with your ds160 and submitted it already. Is there a need to inform USEM about me completing it already? No. You do have a copy of the confirmation page for the interview? If so bring that to the interview.

Thank you ☺️

Two more things.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

And the last thing is follow the instructions below.

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth sailing.

She is just a little hesitant and doesn't want to make a mistake. Filipinos tend to want reinforcement that they are doing it right. Even to the fault of asking you if the information that you used to answer their questions is correct. It's just a part of their culture.
