I haven’t received my NOA2 yet or a list of what I need for interview. I’m just preparing myself now for what I will need. I have just been reading that that may be needed so needed some clarification. If the list stated I need it I wouldn’t be asking on here. No need to be rude.

This is the process straight from London. Follow it over Visa Journey suggestions because each embassy process is slightly different. You want to know what is required/expected in London.

Read all the links https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

The previous link you were given by Mr. Hanky is for a spouse process. It is different than the fiancé process. You will not send anything to NVC as that page indicates.

What you (UK PERSON) can do right now is order your police certificate and get your shots done, or proof you already had them in the past. You will need both before your medical exam and interview. All the information you need is found reading the London embassy link I gave you. Shots are not required for a fiancé visa,  but you will be so thankful you got them done and officially signed off by an approved doctor at your visa medical exam.

As a side note...the new US Embassy in London is set to open in January so you will interview at the brand new location. Keep following that London embassy link for changes/announcements  that will be happening. Also find and bookmark the UK FORUM here on Visa Journey to ask questions about the London part of your process. As I said, each embassy is slightly different in procedures and expectations.. I wasn’t being rude and I wasn’t talking about interview stage. I was talking petition stage. You should have sent copies of birth certificates. It says so on the checklist from USCIS.

Reread the checklist.

YMMV

Unless the petitioner included his/her BC in the I-129F petition, you don't need it. Since I129F has been approved, it would imply that the BC is not needed and there is alternate forms of identification in its place.

That's not true, it varies by country, some countries do want it

There's a page, or was a page that mentioned needing the petitioners birth certificate and not the short version.

I'm not the only one that's gotten this.

He should be able to easily access his BC. For example, I live out of state from where I was born. Printed out an application to request my BC to be mailed to me. That's it. I suggest he gets his BC. It wouldn't hurt to have extra information.

  • Birth Certificate:  An original birth certificate for each applicant and for the petitioner.  A birth certificate must be presented for each child under age 21, even if that person is not applying for a visa with you at this time.  The date/place of birth and the name of the parents must be shown on the birth certificate.

Differences between K-1 and IR/CR1.  OP is K-1

Hi guys! Thanks for all your replies. I ordered his BC for him from the state website just in case we need it for the interview but according to the VJ instructions, the passport copy should be fine for the initial petition. Sorry for not making it clear but I we are doing the K-1 visa :-)

03/01/2019 - USCIS Chicago lockbox received case  for AOS/EAD/AP

03/21/2019 - NOA1 received hard copy via post (Notice date 03/14/2019)

Going back...the petitioner must be a US citizen to bring over a fiancé. He is proving his citizenship with his passport. That works just fine to prove he is American.

Going forward...you will applying for a fiancé visa through London and the US Department of State (different part of the US government than USCIS). All the documents are about you to make sure you qualify for a visa. Your American fiancé has already proved he is a US citizen to USCIS so the petition can be approved. Once his petition is approved, it is established that he is American and qualifies to bring a fiancé to the US. He will not need a birth certificate or passport for your London interview. All he needs to do for your interview is prove he can support you or find somebody else who is willing to fill out an I-134 Affidavit of Support.

Do not be mislead or confused by what happens at interviews in Mexico or the process for spouse visas. Ask your London questions in the UK forum of Visa Journey.

That's why the first reply said "You need to read the instructions for your embassy"

Anyway, OP said they already got it.
