Help Please! Expedite for natural disaster??

Hello again VJers!

 

Thank you all for your endless knowledge and expertise.  So here I am again...slightly freaking out thanks to Hurricane Irma!!  It is forecast to hit Haiti this week according to what I am reading (not necessarily the eye but heavy rain/winds).  I feel like I read somewhere that a case can be expedited due to natural disaster.  We are 2 weeks into the NVC process and I am wondering:

1) Does the natural disaster have to have already happened?

2) If not is there even a way to get him here this week?

3) Am I just imagining this all and losing my mind?  

 

Does anyone have any helpful knowledge about this and if it's even possible who do I call and what to I say? (I am the worlds worst googler...I don't know how to ask google so they understand what I am trying to figure out).

That is what I was wondering. I didn't know if it was even possible and I didn't know if it was after a natural disaster has already happened.

I figured there was no possible way to make it happen in a week but I guess one may never know.

 

So I guess I will just pray that Irma does not cause to much damage in Haiti and that my husband and everyone in Irma's path stays safe!  I will just be here worrying until Irma goes away.

An event that has not yet occurred won't qualify. And getting anything in a week is not only unlikely, but likely impossible. An expedite still takes a few/several weeks to a few months for a CR-1/IR-1.

I think you have the answers to your questions.  All I can add is have your other half be safe and obey Police when instructed to evacuate, etc...for obvious safety issues.  Praying for you and your other half.  God Bless,  david

@SJ & J I actually wondered the same. My fiancé lives in Haiti. I have a flight to visit him next week. I am praying that the hurricane doesn't cause great devastation. Haiti has been through a lot, and heavy rains will definitely cause issues because they don't have proper drainage systems. 😞 We just have to pray for a good outcome, and see what's next at the end of the week!

I'm sorry I know you're freaking out but at stated, no expedited would be granted for a possibility and that fast. 

The U.S is currently dealing with their own aftermath with severe rains and flooding, and it breaks my heart. South Asia is flooded as well.

Hi- I know I am late to this conversation but I also wanted to mention that the embassy had been closed some days this week due to the prediction of the storm - I think if anything this would slow down any part of the process. Unfortunately things in Haiti don't move fast. Hopefully your husband already has all the documents he needs. Good luck in the process.
