Entry port interview, what should I expect?

so I received my IR-1 visa today and going to book a flight ticket soon, i recently knew that there will be another interview at the entry port in the U.S.

What should I expect it to be like? should I take my documents like tax returns etc... there?

Visa Class: IR-1.

Country: Jordan.

Embassy: U.S embassy in Amman, Jordan.

Married: May 28, 2015.

Interview Date: Aug 17, 2017.

Interview Result: Approved.

VISA Received: Aug 21, 2017.

U.S Entry & Passport Stamp: Aug 25, 2017.

Permanent (Green) Card was produced: Oct 9, 2017.

Permanent (Green) Card was mailed to me: Oct 11, 2017.

Received My Social Security Card: Oct 29, 2017.

First Job in America: Dec 21, 2017.

Received Plastic Green Card in the mail (Permanent Resident Card): Mar 16, 2018.

N-400 Applied: May 28, 2020.

N-400 NOA: June 1, 2020.

Bio: June 19, 2021.

Interview: July 23, 2021.

Ceremony: Aug 13, 2021.

you will hand over the unopened packet which has cover sheet of info

they will ask where you will reside in the US to make sure your intentions are to live with your spouse as packet indicates that name and address

sometimes not many quesitons

sometimes a lot

no one can really say but tell the community here whaat POE (airport ) is 1st US stop and that will help with answers

still haven't booked, but i think it will be either Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN

I live in Denver.

 

The US Border Control officers are extremely friendly at DIA. Secondary is also quiet as it's not exactly a popular destination for intending immigrants.

 

As above, hand over the unopened package. Let them do their thing and you'll be out in no time at all. Good luck!

To be honest they seem to get excited when someone comes in for secondary processing as I imagine they don't get to do it very often :D

 

I really couldn't think of a better airport to come in to. It's also a beautiful place when you walk out of the airport and you see the mountains in front of you.

I've been reading your posts and I know I'm a random stranger on the web, but I'm so happy you guys finally got approved after such a long process <3 it truly warms my heart, you deserve it and I wish you both all the happiness in the world!

➺ 01/07/17 Got married in Cozumel

➺ 02/04/17 Petition mailed 

➺ 02/08/17 Case Assigned to USCIS Nebraska, sigh. 

➺ 02/13/17 We got our NOA1! PD: February 8th 

➺ 12/15/17 NOA2 finally! after 10 1/2 months. 

➺ 12/21/17 NVC confirmed they received our file 

➺ 01/22/18 Documents sent to Rapidvisa 

➺ 02/05/18  NVC received our package 

➺ 03/15/18 Case complete! 

➺ 06/27/18  We got our Interview date! August 28th 

➺ 08/30/18 The package arrived (waited at Juarez)

➺ 08/31/18 Entered the U.S with my husband 

➺ 02/13/19 Husband confesses he cheated, leaves

➺ 02/16/19 Husband decides to abandon the marriage

➺ 05/13/19  I am officially divorced. 

 ➺ 07/03/20  I file to remove conditions on my own     

 ➺ 08/13/21 I finally get my biometrics appointment 

➺ 02/26/22 I got my interview assigned: March 31st.

I came back with my fiancé at the time (now wife) and we were asked 2 questions:

 

1) What is she in relation to you.

2) How long have you guys known each other.

 

He then asked for her sealed envelope.

 

That was it. I'm sure it varies from person to person and office to officer though.

Hi 

 

As we didnt had direct flight to DEN, we flew to JFK. Heard all kind of horror stories and we were scared as well as prepared. We had our connecting flight to DEN (home) after 12 hrs.

 

We got through POE at JFK in 5 min. It was smooth. Just that people say some officer said "welcome to America" and I wanted to hear that but the officer checking my documents said "NEXT". Well we had a big crowd wait for us at DEN to welcome which was awesome but I did take a photo with a signage "Welcome to NYC"

 

have a Safe flight, worry less, stay calm, have a big smile, be professional and respect CBP officer. You will be fine. And Congratulation on being awarded visa.
