New Spinoff show- Before 90 Day Fiancee

This past Sunday was the premiere of the new spinoff show.  It features Americans, who met people online, traveling to other countries to meet their internet loves for the first time.  And they are ALL talking about marriage already.

 

All I can say is WOW!!!  What a sorry bunch.

 

One guy is 34.  I don't know if he lives with his mommy or is just a momma's boy.  He met a woman (21 y/o) in the deep Amazon jungle of Brazil.  He's from Kentucky.  To get to her, it's 17 hours on 3 flights and then a couple of days on a boat to get to her village.  Apparently, the only way in and out is by boat.   She lives in a some kind of bungalow with no utilities, but somehow they were able to meet on the internet.  And since they met, they have been doing FaceTime.  He admitted to sending her money, and probably bought her the Iphone, and routinely goes shopping with her on FaceTime where she points to what she wants him to buy.  Neither of them speak a word of each other's language.  Google Translate is their best friend.  As we know, it's a horrible translator.  So he's traveling there for 3 weeks, and told his mommy that if "all goes well" he will be proposing to his love at the end of the 3 weeks.  He went to some kind of travel clinic, and when the woman pulled up the area where his going on a monitor, whole screen was red.  He almost fainted when she started reading off the things that can kill him.  Malaria, Yellow fever among them.  This nerd is bringing 5 military storage boxes full of supplies.  Among them a special funny looking hat to prevent heat stroke, a full body mosquito net (my wife literally fell of the bed laughing when he put it on), and best of all, some condoms.  No not for safe sex.  To put on himself when he goes swimming to prevent deadly fish from swimming up his urethra.    LOL

I don't know about you, but this couple is a can't-miss.  I don't mean to be a successful marriage, I mean for ratings.  This guy by himself will have me glued to the screen week in week out.

 

Then there was another American (from Ohio I think).  47 y/o with 4 grown kids and met a young looking 20-something hooker from Haiti online.  I know that you're saying that he never said that she was a hooker.  Okay.  She met a 64 year old American (her "ex") in the Dominican Republic.  There's only 1 reason that young single Haitian woman go to DR, to "work".  He even said that he doesn't know how she met this older American in the DR when she's from Haiti.  I think he knows deep down but doesn't want to accept it.  Of course, his love is "unemployed" (except when she's working tourists in DR) and sells clothes out of her house.  So, this dope is bringing $2500 worth of cheap panties, bras, dresses, etc for his girlfriend to sell to make money.  That's actually not a bad idea.  Instead of just Western Union'ing her cash, this will $2500 worth of crappy clothes will make her double or more.  This Romeo is already bringing an engagement ring, wasting no time.  Another disaster in the making, but at least they speak the same language. 

 

The 3rd couple was a 42 year old American woman with 2 early teen daughters.  She is going to Amsterdam for 6 weeks to meet a 24 year old fitness guy.  Reminds me of Danielle and Mohammad, except this woman is actually pretty good looking and intelligent (has a fashion clothing line with her twin sister), but I can already see some neediness and obsessive tendencies.  She kept sending his selfies and video messages from the car and then at the airport.  A little much.

 

This show seems a little much, but I just really want to see that guy walk around a Amazon Brazilian village in a full body mosquito net.  That ought to be worth the hour on its own.

The original 90 Day Fiance is kinda trashy already, but this show takes it to a whole new level. I enjoy seeing the drama, but I actually felt kinda bad for watching this show. The man going to Brazil (Paul?) seems a bit off to me. Apparently he was found to have a criminal record of some sort? Not sure how true that is. And the whole thing with his mother's hair was super weird. The fact that he and his GF don't have any sort of common language at all is a huge red flag. I feel bad saying this, but I feel like he is taking advantage of her due to her young age and her lack of money. Like you said, this couple will surely bring in a lot of viewers.

 

The Haitian woman at least seems to somewhat know what she is getting into. She seems like an obvious scammer in it for the green card and or money, but I guess time will tell...

 

The American woman with the Dutch man...I really have no thoughts on them. I feel kind of bad for her daughters though. It would be interesting to see if they actually end up together as a couple.

As he was leaving for the airport, his mommy went inside and took some hair of her hairbrush, put it in a napkin and gave it to him.  To always be with him?    He folded it up and put it in his carry-on.  Weirdos!!!  I predict he'll get eaten by a Piranha in the water near his girlfriend's hut.

Yeah, him and his mom  are seriously weird acting, i agree, or the kid who tortures and kills animals for fun, Yikes!

I just read the article.  Apparently being convicted of a felony isn't a big deal anymore.  Convicted in 2014 and traveling to Brazil in 2016?

This show.  Is going to be.  Amazing.

 

Paul is so weird and twitchy and definitely has some sort of emotional balance issue.  Karine is a impressionable young girl who wants a better life for her and her family.  His packing is insane, I can't wait to see him wear that mosquito body suit again!  When they're in the grocery store and Karine can't understand him and hangs up, I love how he's all "I guess I should have practiced more Portuguese"...  You think?  You're going to a remote area in Brazil to meet a girl who doesn't speak English.  Yes, you should have put in at least one month of basic Portuguese.  It really boggles my mind how people simply don't try to learn their partner's language.  (Like Chantel & Pedro- take some damn classes!!)

 

Darcy seems pretty level headed.  She actually seems like a really great mom and her girls really love her.  I would like for them to work out as a couple, but I don't think they will.  The age gap is too large.  I don't necessarily think 18 years is always too large a gap, but he's only 24.  Maybe if they were 30 & 48 it would make more sense.

 

The guy with the girl in Haiti grosses me out a little.  Again, age gaps aren't always a huge deal when the younger of the two is a decent age.  She's what, 19?  C'mon man.  That's just disgusting.  She's obviously using him for money.  I loved how the guy is all "her ex is *old*, he's a stereotypical gringo... etc"  Umm.. that is YOU TOO!!!

 

Can't wait for the next episode!  This show is a trashy TV drama goldmine!

Another thing I noticed is nearly all the couples are going to propose or expecting a proposal.  Is this normal?  These couples have only been dating for a few months, and will only spend a few weeks with each other before proposing.  I know everyone's situation is different, but my husband and I dated for four years before getting married.  Two of those years we lived together (in his country).  Maybe it's pressure from the TV show?

Of course, the tv-show has to have something.
In the 90 Day Fiancé series it's all about "WILL THEY GET MARRIED???",
in the Before the 90 Days serie it's all about "WILL THEY GET ENGAGED???"

The show has to have some kind of cliffhanger 'til the end.

I loved that part. She didn't even cut off a nice little lock of hair for him, she took the old creepy hair she had collected on her brush. It would've been creepy either way, but still..
