Hello everyone,

 

I have been lurking on Visa Journey for a couple weeks now, learning so much about the visa process. There is so much wonderful information here and a friendly and very helpful community. I have not registered before now because I felt I did not have anything to offer in terms of information or advice. I registered today because I am hoping I can ask a silly question...

 

I am awful at aesthetics of any kind, more so with jewelry... truth is, I am clueless. I will be visiting my longtime Filipina sweetheart in a few weeks and I plan to surprise her with a ring (she is already expecting a proposal as we have talked a lot about marriage). However, for the past two weeks I have spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for a ring, but cannot decide. I somehow managed to narrow it down to two choices; both the same design, but with a different band. My sweetheart's birthstone is aquamarine and I want to have that as the stone, the band choices are a 10k white gold or a 14k rose gold. I first thought I would go with the 14k gold because it is higher karat, but reading on it I learn that sometimes 10k is better because it is more durable (so now I am even more confused).

 

I cannot decide on which looks better and she would be most happy with.

 

Please help this jewelry challenged guy pick the correct ring for his lady.

White gold! I love rose gold but it just doesn't go so well with certain gemstones. Also, the durability difference between 10 and 14k is minimal. When you get past 18k, gold gets noticeably softer.

Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

Rose gold is very 'in' right now but I think in some years from now it will look dated. The white is much more classic and will last. I agree with @sparkles_ that rose gold looks a bit odd with gemstones.

White Gold is obviously all the rage right now having said that some Filipinas do not appreciate white gold to many it just looks like silver.

The idea of Gold is that it should be Yellow GOLD colored. Certain ores match better with certain skin tones as well.

So it might be best to ask your special lady what they prefer but be sure to show them examples.

Another option is Tri-color, Yellow Gold, Rose and White combo.

Regardless, if it's given from the heart and your girl is into you rather than material things then what ever you pick will be most appreciated.
