But you know that going with the cr1, domicile and all that fun stuff is going to take waaaaaay longer than k1 right? Not to mention all the money. If you're already impatient then immigration is not for you guys. K1, cr1, aos .. All those take time and you gotta suck it up. Some people wait years to be with their loves ones.

I would say that if you've waited this long, it would make far more sense to continue waiting a little longer. It seems like it would be poor judgement to make all this progress, albeit painful, to negate your preparation, fees spent, and time waited and start all over again? Not only will it cost you more, but in the long run it will probably set you back even further both in time and in regards to your job. My sincere advice would be to wait it out and use the support of the brilliant people on here to help you through it...it will all be worth it in the end. Remember that marriage is a test of patience and composure, but that it equally rewards you with endless joy and happiness!

The previous responses are correct. The immigration process is an emotional waiting game. My spouse and I have been married over two years now and still waiting to be together. Stay on the course and hang in there. It is definitely worth it. The best of luck to you on this journey.

As someone who has been waiting for the NOA2 for 13 months since filing, I feel your pain. Everyone else is probably correct though, be patient.

I know the wait is long. It took us 119 days. We received an RFE. Have you received one?  Just hang in there. It could be any day. I think quitting your job would be a big disadvantage when going any further in your process. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I too don't understand why you would pull the petition when it could only be a few weeks left then start over. And if you can wait in Chile together for a CR1, you can do the same for a K1. Either way, if the USC leaves the US they will have to reestablish domicile and, of course if you don't have a job, find a cosponsor before the beneficiary could migrate.

 

Kudos to the poster that said not to get distracted by other people's timeline. Watching other people's timeline is the biggest emotional torture a person can do to themselves. But I know we can't help it. As already mentioned, impatience and immigration does not go hand and hand. You have to be strong willed.

 

The decision is yours but I would highly reconsider the plan to pull the K1. Or, at least you want to be with him keep the K1 active and just move to him. When you two are done with the immigration ordeal you will have the rest of your lives together.

The point was if she is able to pick up and stay in Chile while waiting for the CR1, she can do the very same thing while waiting for the NOA2 on a K1 petition that is already filed, paid for, and nearing closure.  I totally understand wanting to be together, our K1 took 2 years to be approved and reach POE.  At this point, it just makes sense to be patient, diligent, and follow through.  Great qualities of a good marriage.  Everything happens for a reason and you will be a stronger couple for it.

Your NOA1 for the I-129f was 13 months ago?  Did you have an RFE?

The OP needs to note that she'll need to establish domicile just to get an approved CR-1/IR-1, and this usually means moving back to the US before the spouse.

It'd be easier (and smarter) to just go visit him now if that's possible while waiting for the noa2 and the interview to be scheduled and then just attend the interview.

For us its not about being able to be in the United States or for him to be able to work or whatever, its just about us being able to be TOGETHER in the same place. If it were about us saving money and being able to get on with our lives once the process is over then I would never even think about pulling the petition and leaving my comfortable 9-5 job as a manger. The CR1/IR1 allows us to be together at least while we are waiting and then come back together. 

 

I don't get your reasoning at all. You can go there now and come back together when K1 is approved.
At the very least you can take an extended leave to visit.
Starting over with a process that can take a year or more because of a short 130 days currently is just silly.
Yes, 4 or 5 months is short and totally reasonable.

Put your money to more visits and not another petition.

Sorry but it makes absolutely no sense.
