Interesting protest.  I wonder how this will work out in the long run.

Andrew Newman always pays his taxes, even if he hates what the government is doing with them. But not this year. For him, Donald Trumpis the dealbreaker. He’ll pay his city and state taxes but will refuse to pay federal income tax as a cry of civil disobedience against the president and his new administration.

Newman is not alone. A nascent movement has been detected to revive the popularity of tax resistance – last seen en masse in America during the Vietnam war but which has been, sporadically, a tradition in the US and beyond going back many centuries.

“My tax money will be going towards putting up a wall on the Mexican border instead of helping sick people. It will contribute to the destruction of the environment and maybe more nuclear weapons. I think there will be a redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the wealthy elite and Trump’s campaign for the working man and woman was an absolute fraud. If you pay taxes you are implicated in the system,” said Newman, an associate professor of English and history at Stony Brook University on Long Island, part of the State University of New York.

Hasn't the gap between the wealthy and poor widened over the past eight years?  I can't remember who was president then?   Why didn't this idiot professor start his tax protest then?

One thing his election has shown is that some of the biggest idiots in this world are professors. I realize the biggest wackos get the most air time, but it is scary that some of them are allowed to be in the presence of children, much less teach.

Yup, and I thought that even before the elections, but they just prove it again and again.

How so very Tea Party-ish of him... But in the long run it won't work.

Sure, lets all withhold our taxes.  Children will just go hungry, elderly will go without care, the military without funding.

If we follow his example, we can just give it to a different charity to cover all these things (not including the military).  If I were him, and I was planning on not paying my taxes, I would put them in escrow along with the extra needed for the cost of the penalties and interest so the IRS doesn't destroy my life like the Obama/Trump INS raids are doing to all these law abiding illegal immigrants.

You know, on second thought, I'm not even sure I believe him. Not paying your taxes is one thing, but not paying your taxes and announcing it(with your name and everything) is a whole different stupid. I find it hard to believe anyone would be that dumb to put their name out there.

There's a difference between carrying forward your losses and what this guy wants to do. They'll nail him especially now they know about it, which makes it all the more not believable. I don't see who would want to put themselves in that position.
