Mine is 30th too!

But I’ll hold off on buying plane tickets until I have passport in hand. I’ve made that mistake before and ended up getting it the day before I left. Caused a lot of stressing out and crying, which again lead to a very sad goodbye to my family as I spent more time checking the tracker than spending time with them.

Someone else should be able to chime in on how long it’s currently taking.

Hello fellow Scandinavians.

So recently there has been a lot of talking about the embassy sending/delivering the passport back.

Can anybody tell me what the average wait time is, to expect to have the passport back?

I have my interview the 30th of September, and I am looking for ticking in late oktober(25ish)?

Can somebody verify if I will have my passport by then?

Or should I wait to buy the plane ticket, till I physically have the passport.

Thank you for your help.

Anything can happen after the interview, so definitely don't buy plane tickets until you have the visa in hand, unless the ticket is refundable or if it's possible to at least change the date.

There could be missing documents that the embassy requires that you forgot to bring to the interview, or missing pages of the documents you did bring, or documents that weren't up to their standards that could require you to order new ones etc, etc. There are so many things that could go wrong, really, and that could delay your visa approval.

The passport could disappear on its way to you. Especially if handled by PostNord...

Even the visa itself could have wrong information, misspelled name etc. Then you'd have to send it back to the embassy and they'd have to make a new one and ship it to you again.

So yeah, definitely don't get any plane tickets before having the visa in hand. Only after you receive it and check the info on it you can be sure everything's good to go.

Hi! We recently got our NOA2 for our I130, and our case is now on the way to NVC as of yesterday, so we have been trying to prepare for everything that comes next. I was reading through DS260 examples and I noticed it asks for secondary schools; this would include everything past the required schooling, right? So everything above but not including 9th grade (since required schooling ends at 9th grade in DK)? What did other Scandinavians put here?

In the vernacular of the U.S., secondary school starts at age 14/15 and is at least partially required (until age 16). Not sure how that equates in Scandinavia, but probably safer to list the last school attended before university age to be sure you’re covered!

I'm just not sure what that would be 😅 Since in Denmark, schools aren't split up like they are in the US, everyone from grade 0-9 go to the same school (folkeskole), and then there's the non-required schooling after, gymnasium, and colleges, university, etc. But since secondary schooling in America would be like high school (9-12th) I'm not sure how to equate it to DK, if I should just include gymnasium+ or include 9th grade too even though it was just folkeskole?

So, after three weeks wait I discovered my passport had been at the post office for a week without any notice. Everything was great for about an hour, till I opened my passport and realised they misspelled my fiancé’s name with one letter. I am the beneficiary and all my info is correct. I emailed the consulate but anyone know if there’s a chance at all that I might still be able to use it? I’m so stressed out right now.

Hello fellow Scandinavians!

Just had my interview and it went perfect, except they haven't received my medical examination yet, which i already knew was going to happen.

(My case got expedited and did not have time to schedule medical in good enough time in advance)

So the interviewer told me that he will send my passport when they receive the medical examination records.

My question is, does anybody know if the embassy will send me an email when they receive the medical examination records, to let me know?

Thank you for all your help.

Hi so sorry to butt in! We aren't at embassy phase yet but we just got sent to NVC waiting for case number and my husband is from Denmark too, and I'm wondering what did you put on your DS260 for secondary schooling? Did you include folkeskole or just gymnasium and up?

Haha okay :)

I called my doctor last Wednesday and they told me they were going to sent the records that same day, and that the embassy should have it by Wednesday (tomorrow).

But i was just wondering if the embassy actually will email saying they received it, and they are sending back my passport.

The embassy got my medical after my interview. The way I found out was to regularly log on to the http://ceac.state.gov page and see when it changed from "administrative processing" to "issued" :)

Thank you for all your help.

No they won't send you anything when they receive your medical. You can check when they touch your application on the ceac website, it will show which date they last looked at it. Likely they won't touch it until they receive the medical results, so when you see the date update next time, it's likely they received it. Soon thereafter the status itself should change to issued.
