Unpopular opinion/thought but I wasn't a fan of Hillary either. I only supported her plans for Planned Parenthood as I am a strong believer in having clinics where women can go for annual screenings for uterus cancer and other diseases when it comes to genitals and STI/STD tests or birth control methods as I know that Trump and especially Mike Pence is against PP. But Hillary is/was a massive liar and I don't trust liars. I really think we would have been in more trouble with more countries if she was elected. Do I like Donald Trump? Mwah. He has a big mouth, rant tweet about almost anything but that guy knows how to do business most of the time. Did I shat my pants the first 4 minutes of him being elected? Heck yes. Do I think my green card will be in danger? No. Would be so ironic while he has a immigrant wife and he'd so something to family-based visas. However, work-visa's are more likely endangered now he is President. Can't say it enough.

I don't think Trump in power is going to change the family visa's, as i understand it and as it has been said in this post he is looking at the illegal immigration. Making it harder for the under the table wages and stopping the use of the illegals as cheap labor. As someone who has invested a big chunk of change into doing it legally ,went through the long wait times and jumped through hoops to please the USCIS i am happy about that. As permanent residences we should also be on the receiving end of more jobs for america, so again that does give me some hope.

Does it remove the fact that some ignorant, buck tooth hick thinks immigration steals from his family...... no  .

I think people need to start making the distinction between the soon to be President Trumps policies and some right wing supports views. As a free democratic society with immense pressure on the boarder something was going to give and america spoke. Similar to the Brexit, to me it is not about being afraid of immigration but a fear immigration could be used to get some really bad evil people in. You have to remember a big majority of Americans would not know what we know about the immigration system and what it does expect. They think immigration and think people sneaking across the boarder.

I don't believe Trump getting in is as bad as the liberals are crying about , there are systems in place to stop him and ensure it is best for the legal residents.

I find it's so funny to come to know this became a MEGATHREAD lol

Even my title was changed to ''what does trump presidency means for visas''

But the tittle used to be '' Can trump change the rules for REMOVING CONDITIONS within next 4 MONTHS''

I guess it was just used to hold ANYTHING trump related and be thrown into here....

It's more because we can sit here and speculate all that we want and clutter up the boards.  The man has barely been president a day now.  It's unlikely that we will see anything about our concerns for a little while.

I believe you are seriously wrong.

Check out the use of Executive Order that Obama used more extensively than ever before.

That's how we got the 'Dreamers' or DACA program.

Source; USA today.

When Chief of Staff Reince Priebus handed him a memorandum directing a hiring freeze, Trump emphasized, "except for the military." The hiring freeze is in line with similar actions taken by Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush in their first days in office.

Edit; I think it's something that has to do with Federal hiring, I guess. I'm trying to search more info

Any idea how the federal workforce hiring freeze will affect processing times?

This won't be good. The USCIS is severely understaffed as it is. As old employees retire, they will not be able to be replaced. I'm genuinely worried that processing times are going to be negatively affected. And for everyone saying -- "but, but the USCIS is self-funded from fees" - you are correct! The USCIS doesn't need any money from congress, but it will still be subject to this hiring freeze and will be unable to hire new employees. I would say that during the short-term there will be few affects, but the next four years are NOT going to be good.

So hiring freeze? Will the people waiting on their removal of conditions (who already got their one year extension letter) be affected?

Will the people applying for citizenship be affected?

It is a hiring freeze not a work freeze. That means no NEW hires. Those that are already employed will still be working.
