  2. Decades too late. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ratline Files: Argentine President Javier Milei Orders Release of Country's Escaped-Nazi Archives The government of Argentine President Javier Milei announced Monday that, based upon the request of a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, it intends to declassify and release all files related to former Nazis who found refuge in the South American country after the Second War War. Guillermo Francos, the president's chief of staff, said in an interview with DNews that the release would satisfy American curiosity and concern for transparency regarding the issue. 3. Good News: Hamas Keeps Getting Deader One good way to tell if your effort to eliminate your enemy's leadership is going well is if you blow up their new defacto prime minister before his people have had a chance to learn that the old prime minister had been blown up, too. True story. The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Hamas PM Ismail Barhoum was killed in an Israeli Air Force (IAF) airstrike just five days after his predecessor (pre-deceasor?) Issam al-Da’alis was — you guessed it! — killed in an IAF airstrike. With an almost coy dryness, the Journal headline read, "Israel Is Killing Hamas Leaders in Quick Succession." "Israel has killed at least another four senior political figures in a week of strikes, including the deputy ministers of justice and interior, as well as the head of Hamas's internal security agency," the paper noted. It almost doesn't need to be said that Israeli intelligence — not to mention IAF targeting — has been spot-on. Honestly, Hamas should have just let the hostages go and ended this 18-month-old war already — but where's the opportunity to murder more Jews in that? When the bad guys decide that martyrdom and murder are preferable to peace, you give them as much of the former as you can while preventing as much of the latter. 4. BOMBSHELL: Anti-Israel Groups in U.S. Had Foreknowledge of October 7 Attack, Lawsuit Alleges A lawsuit brought by the families of victims of the October 7 attacks in Israel alleges that several pro-Hamas and anti-Israel groups in the United States aided and abetted the Hamas attack. Some groups reactivated their dormant social media accounts just prior to the attacks, according to the lawsuit. 5. 1) Fire the staffer and move on... but it feels like a set-up. 2) "Leaking" that Trump was going to bomb the Houthis is like "leaking" that he likes Quarter-Pounders with cheese. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Has the Staffer Who Put Jeffrey Goldberg on the Signal Chat Been Exposed? Democrats were in faux outrage mode in the wake of a report by Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic that he was mistakenly included in a chat on Signal with senior Trump administration officials discussing a planned military strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen. Goldberg described the chat as containing "classified" information; however, that is untrue. So, while this wasn't the scandal Democrats hoped it would be, the big question that remains is how Goldberg ended up in the chat on Signal in the first place. According to President Trump, they know that it was a staffer for National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. 6. BREAKING: Bhattacharya Confirmed as NIH Head Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, who was personally targeted and censored by the Biden administration (including NIH) and Big Tech, has been confirmed as National Institutes of Health (NIH) director. Bhattacharya, an outspoken critic of the government's disastrous COVID-19 policies, was finally confirmed by the Senate on March 25. Sen. Jim Banks celebrated, "When others were afraid to stand up against group think & COVID hysteria, Dr. Bhattacharya was a common sense leader. His confirmation is a huge win for American health." 7. Adjustment of status? Not a consular interview? Please complete your VJ Timeline so we know where things stand in your process. Elaborate here, too.
  8. A political comment has been removed. Everyone is welcome to opine politically in the Current Events forum.
  9. Small towns in 5 states have Lowes Market: more than 140 neighborhood stores throughout Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Kansas. https://www.lowesmarket.com Nearest one to me is about 40 minutes away in my favorite small town. When I'm in range, I always stop. Their regular prices are rather high, but their specials can't be beat, and I research those in advance. It's a destination, not an option.
  10. Eclectic here. Tonight's dinner was (half each for Mini-Bone & me): -- 3 slices of Costco luncheon ham, cut into 12 smaller squares -- 10 air-fried Aldi tater tots -- half-can of pork & beans from an estate sale -- half a sugar-free apple pie on expiration-day Walmart markdown -- 1 cup Food Club root beer from Lowes Market (see next post) Goes to show that good stuff can be found anywhere.
  11. They wanted you to knuckle under, N ma'am.
  12. Count your blessings! About 99.44% of everyone here is envious. Which consulate?
  13. From prostrate to prostate to prostrate to prostate, pee man...
  14. Costco just announced (like, yesterday) that they're expanding their gas-station hours. I'll try to find the article on it. Most irritating thing about Costco is that they have something like 12 registers and no more than 3 ever seem to be open even at peak times, with customers backed up halfway into the store with melting/thawing products. Conversely, all the self-checkout stations are always open, mobbed with folks who have few or many items to purchase. There are often staffers helping the self-checkout people scan stuff, and I can't figure out the logic of it. Why not reserve self-checkout for people with (e.g.) 25 items or fewer, and send everyone else into the staffed checkout lanes? Some chaos would be minimized. I invariably leave regular Costco with a headache. Conversely, I can be in and out of the Costco Business Center in 30 minutes. If the latter has what I want (a great many products overlap) and I don't also need gas, I'll go there with pleasure.
  15. And you're also no longer capable of P-Math, no man.
  16. Too bad we got adequate sleep after going to bed at an adult's hour, so there man. And, had we arrived earlier, we might have missed out on the closeout bakery items, so there man. Actually, too bad we were there at all, hate Walmart we man.
  17. Unless it's authentic Dim Sum, this may well be right. Will defer to experts on it.
  18. It's been awhile, but I think that A4 is slightly narrower and longer than U.S. letter-sized. Maybe keep this in mind when you're printing or preparing documents to send in, so that nothing on an extreme edge gets cut off. Send it in on the A4, if that's what you have. It's a pleasure. 19. Thanks for the reminder! I'm on my second pack of Subway gift cards -- $100 worth for $79.99. Combining these with Subway coupons from newspaper inserts, and it's almost "cheaper than free."
  20. "A few million here, a few million there, and soon it adds up to real money." -- some former Senator (not verbatim)
  21. It's good that you found somewhere palatable (pun intended). Maybe next time, have Mrs. CC ask how they swing it, and report back here.
  22. Enlist as many as possible. We're rooting for a positive outcome in your cases.
  23. Oh, absolutely. A little from each. Avoid going overboard. Affidavits or letters are considered secondary evidence, and they're typically recommended only when other evidence is thin. For a relationship as lengthy as yours, especially with multiple in-person meetings, I'd say omit these.
  24. Very revealing, with multiple sources of input. This raises the new question of how challenging it would be to obtain "authentic" ingredients at tolerable cost.
  25. And bear in mind that the best evidence of all is "time spent together in person."
