Update: Drug testing over the last year is complete and all passed.  Medical re-exam done.  Dr said to wait and hear from the embassy.  Just wondering if my fiancée will need to interview again with the embassy or just submit her passport?
Last year she went for her interview before they received the medical results and they told her all was good, pending the results which unfortunately lead to the 1 yr ban.  I appreciate any information.  Thanks!

Thanks for your reply NandV. I am waiting on the embassy or DHL to provide the tracking number. Excited and anxious at the same time. Thanks

I've been checking CEAC almost every day lately and sometimes several times a day. I had my interview in March last year and redid my medical on February 8th, so now I'm waiting for my case to be updated so I'll know that the embassy received the medical and for them to hopefully very soon issue my visa. It's like I catch myself wanting to check because I don't want to go around thinking that I'm still waiting (and as you all now that's no fun!) when in reality maybe something has actually happened. Especially when it could be any day now. Any moment now.

I also feel, though, that maybe it's better to check at the most once a day sometime after the embassy has closed for the day or perhaps not even every day... Because there's also that feeling that when I do check and nothing has happened I get a little bit disappointed and I start thinking about it. So it's definitely a balance...

It took about 5 months for me to finally say “Stop”. I was checking processing times, case status, and another site. It took so much time of my day that I finally just stopped. Instead of everyday, it’s every couple days or so. Less and less.

I think I've refrained from commenting on anyone's relationship on this forum, until now. I also believe people can change and make mistakes, but this particular crime is a huge red flag. Obviously I don't know the circumstances of your relationship but I would recommend being VERY cautious about coming here on a K-1 to be with that man.

Her interview is Monday.  Macau received our application for the police report but has yet to complete the investigation as she no longer has her Non-residential Workers Exit slip after she left Macau in 2016.  Hopefully we'll have an answer by next week and our friend can just fax/mail it over asap.

We choose to go to the interview because rescheduling is always a bad impression and the US. Consulate might ask why and such.

I believe she'll go through the process and will get a non-completion slip.  Once we have the Macau police report then they'll grant her a visa.

I also found out that she had this friend that is now a in Seattle (USA).  She did the K-1 Visa and the Vietnamese Agent who she hired told her to do a totally new passport to hide her travels/working entries to Macau.  She passed the initial interview but after they review her files further in the coming days, the US Consulate discovered she worked in Macau (she did the whole new passport to try and hide it).  So she was told to produce a police report from Macau.  I believe her husband went online and did it himself for her.   It took a long time to get it but at the end of the day, she got approved an is now in the states.

Will update sometime this week on her interview....

There is a LOT of misinformation out there on FB and Reddit.  There are normally questions here about pregnancy, but I have never seen it delay a case.  Public charge has been in effect for years.

I think she's trying to scare you. Do not trust her with any personal information. Also, if she paid taxes on what she paid your wife (that is if she even reports it), doesn't she also have to give your wife other benefits?

I’m beginning to wonder whether they have ever met in person also. COVID has been with us for a year. Travel restrictions came in at the end of March last year. Per the OP they haven’t met in the last two years, which is very strange for a UK/US couple. COVID aside, that still leaves over a year pre-COVID. The vast majority of UK and US citizens don’t need visas to visit the other country. In the halcyon days of transatlantic travel before COVID, tickets were going for less than $500. Considering we see couples here making journeys of 30+ hours involving several planes, boats, buses etc to get to far-flung parts of Asia, I find it quite incredulous that someone from the UK didn’t fly here in all that time. Reading between the lines, it looks to me like they have never met.

The previous marriage is also not without concern. It could be seen as “America or bust” and going from one American man to another to find a way here.

This isn't what you asked, but I really do recommend meeting your future spouse and spending as much time together as you can before marrying them! You need to know what your compatibility and day-to-day lives will be like in person when this is the person you'll hopefully spend the rest of your life with. COVID sucks for all of us, but the wait will be worth it when you have a lifetime ahead of you, and hopefully we can all see our loved ones again soon.

NandV reacted to Astrid M in Does COVID-19 count as extreme hardship?
My partner (US) and I (UK) have been together for a while but met during covid. We are trying our hardest to be patient, but we struggle. We know we want to marry - so we could wait until this is all over, marry, and file for spousal.
But we were also thinking we could file for the K1. The issue being that we have not met so haven't seen each other in the last 2 years per the requirements.
However, it does state that this can be waived due to cultural customs or extreme hardship. My question is, could we explain that it is covid keeping us from meeting and therefore filing under extreme hardship?

I would appreciate any advice you could give. Thank you.

I'm sorry but your story is difficult to follow. Maybe you could break it up in a timeline to explain what the problem is? Otherwise, best to talk to the embassy directly

Also, I heard somewhere that Jan onwards the U.S. consulates in several countries will be operating at full staff/capacity. I wonder if that has something to do with this increased speed? I also wonder if Indian government has made vaccine available to U.S. embassy/consulate employees resulting in this full staffing scenario. In any case, whatever has caused this I pray to god it continues, if they do the same volume of interview for next two or three months we will back to normal interview wait times!!!!

Do not provide any SSN or documents if she hasn't paid. If she did pay, you'll be in a bigger bind.

Best advice is let this go as a lesson learned. Always take 50% upfront....
and next time, simply set up a sole proprietorship under your name, YOU collect the payment, and then do as you wish with taxes. Don't let your spouse compromise herself, her status for $1500, it's not worth the headache.

Do you honestly think she'll use that personal info to pay her? She'll use to file lawsuit against her or deport her.
    So...be careful.
