fezlopez got a reaction from Family in Same day oath in Baltimore field office?
I suggest you contact Military OneSource, they have FREE help exactly on this topic.
    https://www.militaryonesource.mil/financial-legal/legal/citizenship-and-immigration/citizenship-and-immigration-the-essentials/

Someone here said you must wait one year that is WRONG. We are still at wartime, it's called the War Against Terror, technically. So you're entitled to citizenship on Day ONE. However, When President Trump was in office he imposed a specific period of service (I believe 6 months or 1 year), however that was shut down by a court ruling.
Bottomline: the day you report to bootcamp you're entitled to citizenship, EXCEPT if you join the national guard, then you're entitled the day you take the oath.

If for some reason you cant be accomodated, you can contact Military One Source OR the citizenship/passport office at your BOOTCAMP and see if they can schedule a ceremony for a during your bootcamp period.
Get on it, this is a big deal!!!! And also, thank you for your service. I did 7 years, 2 tours. Make the best of it!

This was in response to a lawsuit filed against Dept of State yesterday (or maybe just coincidence...)
Given how consulates provided blanket NIEs to students, I think they'll do the same to K-1 applicants.

I don't mind sharing a summarized version. I was trying not to splash our business across the internet, but maybe it will help someone determine if they would like to request.

I have a child that considers my fiance their father, something that we are going to make legal once we are married. I explained in detail to the embassy and NVC that my fiance and I had planned for him to be back here much sooner than what became reality to support our kiddo with remote learning and be the primary stay at home parent as I worked to support us. Super summarized, but that is the generalized body of it. I just explained in much more detail the emotional and financial strain it was putting on me and my little family.

It's kind of confusing as we were never told that we were "approved for an expedite", but the embassy finally requested the case from the NVC after I explained to them that I had requested the expedite at NVC per their recommendation, and that I was subsequently told from the NVC that they could not forward my case to the embassy as it was not back to routine visa services. That might all sound super confusing... but it was a lot of emails between myself, the embassy, and NVC. I was just sincere with the hardship we faced. It wasn't until I notified the embassy that the NVC stated that they could not forward my request for review, and the embassy contacted the NVC, that our case was then "In Transit" 2 business days later. It doesn't hurt to ask.

fezlopez got a reaction from TanyaF in Is it possible for family members to interview in different countries?
    Ok, here's how this works.
    1. You don't ask your consulate, you ask the OTHER consulate first for the courtesy to take your case. They contact the other consulate, and then u sign a
    2. Everyone here is giving you correct & technical answer: you must hold residency/citizenship within that consulate's jurisdiction to get their access. They are correct, HOWEVER,

    3. You can always ask the consulate. You simply briefly explain the situation, and see what they say. It makes sense. That's it. However, it's up to them, and they DO NOT have to grant you courtesy.
    4. Even if granted the courtesy, it doesn't mean you'll get the appointment right away or in the near future. So take caution.

    WIsh you the best.

fezlopez got a reaction from katkoota in How To Know If Consulates Are Scheduling
Based on the March 1st Consular Affairs Briefing, and other data, I've deduced the following:

If you head to appointment scheduling system (CGI), and click New User?, you'll enter a registration page.
In the Registration Page is a dropdown of countries. It seems, based on data here and other anecdotes, the only countries available are those OPEN for Immigrant Visas. Or at the VERY LEAST, consulates that ARE NOT shut down are on the list.

    https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteRegister?country=&language=

I tried a neat backway to create an account under a 100% shutdown consulate, and the system wouldn't let me register the account.

So this is a nice guideline. Is it 100% accurate? No, of course not. But it's nice to know. And yes, Ukraine is in there.

    Correct.
If you had a prior green card, then yes, you'd use the Alien Registration Number from the I94 or other travel document.
It should be also be in your naturalization certificate.

For some reason, The U.S. still asks for Alien Registration number even once you become a citizen. A friend of mine had to dig his from YEARS ago to file his K-1 visa.

You leave it blank or put down N/A.
Alien Registration numbers applies to those with green cards.

    Sounds legitimate.
People with similar backgrounds have requested expedition, you're not the first.
Go for it, and then tell us how it went.
Remember, here on Visajourney you'll get people out of the woodword, telling you NO and WHY? and it's a waste of time, BLAH BLAH.

Gather your documents. Gather your thoughts & letter. And then send it off. And then wait.
You literally have nothing to lose.

fezlopez reacted to Montrealy in Biden Could Fix the Logjam If He Wanted To
Somehow every private company has figured out long ago how to do business in spite of COVID (at least the ones the government overlords allowed to open). If they don’t, they’ll go out of business. But government bureaucracies haven’t managed to figure it out and are still using COVID as an excuse for their incompetence. If they don’t adapt, the consequences for them are zero, and you having to stay apart from your family isn’t a thing.

And Biden doesn’t want to fix the logjam, because that would actually make sense, and politicians don’t do those things.

fezlopez got a reaction from Chauncey in FEBRUARY 2021 K-1 NOA2 to NVC to EMBASSY
    I emailed them.
Looking at other Visajourners arond here, NVC takes 1 solid month to build the case. I'm at 2 weeks, so by the time they answer it'll be week 3. If it's not ready, I know, statistically speaking, it'll be ready the next week or afterward.

No need to call. However, if you prefer human interaction, it's highly advised by attorneys to call late at night. NVC is open until midnight. So calling around 10pm is good.

Also, side note: I never visited Russia but it's on my wish list to visit your exclave, Kaliningrado & Yuzhno-Saklhalinsk (the island). Everyone wants to visit Japan, but everyone dimisses the Russian (half-japanese) island further north. Plus, it's cheaper.   Just something cool to share. Take care
I was never in Russia, but I spent some serious time with NATO around your borders...doing "training".
