Didn't see a March 2020 thread started so here it is. Congratulations on the submission of your K1 visa application. This forum will be very helpful to you through your visa process "journey" as we call it here. If you have not done so yet please fill out your time line as it makes it easier for other VJers to assist you if you should have any questions later on during your journey.

Best advice, is remember why you have submitted your K1 application and do not set very high expectations of the process. Current processing times according to USCIS are 5 to 7 months (for case adjudication only), some could be sooner some much later. The trends so far this year have been considerably less than what USCIS has listed, which is good news for current filers. Let's hope this trend continues on throughout this new year.

I initially sent my K1 application in on Feb 14th, Valentines day, they reviewed it on Feb 24th and sent everything back, I received it on 2/28 , It was rejected because I mistakenly used an outdated I-129 form,  (stupid mistake on my part, I completely overlooked it).. Anyway, they requested that I re-submit the application and I did, this time on a current form, I sent everything back the same day and they received it on March 3rd.. Check has not been cashed yet.

My question is; I received a receipt/case number on the rejected application, and I'm wondering if that case number will be used or will another number be assigned?

Thanks

Check the  status of the current WAC number if it says rejected I assume you'll get  new number!

That's what it shows :)

Case Rejected Because The Version Of The Form I Sent Is No Longer Accepted

On February 24, 2020, we rejected your Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Receipt Number WAC*********, because you used an old version of the form that we no longer accept. We mailed your case back to you, including any supporting materials and the payment. Please follow the instructions to resubmit your case. If you do not receive your rejected case by March 25, 2020, contact the USCIS Contact Center at www.uscis.gov/contactcenter. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

@nykolos

Someone should  be along and give you a  more definitive answer soon. But if not just wait until your resubmitted  case is received and you get a new number or the status will change to case received if they use the first number. You can also call them and inquire.

The "case number" is a receipt number not a case number. A case number is not assigned until it reaches NVC later on after getting your NOA2.

Checks are cased at different times and yours is taking a little longer so have patience. If you show that it was received, then they have it. It's rare to hear that a case is lost or misplaced. Same receipt number will be used.

The case was rejected and returned due to the use of an outdated form the rejection  status shows it to be a WAC number. OP was wondering if a new WAC would be issued  once he resubmitted the application.

At the bottom of my reply to him I indicated that the same WAC would be used. :thumbs:
