  2. Yes, it happens occasionally. Nothing to worry about. They couldn’t get a clear image of the fingerprints, make sure she doesn’t put any lotion on her hands before the appointment. I did that and they had a really hard time taking my prints but ultimately it worked.
  3. If you click Peru on your profile on VJ and then Lima Consulate information, it’ll tell you that applicants schedule their own interviews.

  5. Unfortunately, immigration doesn’t work to our tune. In contrast, we dance to their tune. Missing documents or errors in the application always add time to process the visa. I do not know much about Bolivia consulate but I’ve seen consulates take weeks to issue a visa after simple mishaps like missing documents or other similar things. For example, Montreal takes 4-6 weeks to process in such cases.

  10. Agree with this. It’s worth doing some research. When we were looking, there was a lot of variance in time in different counties nearby. If that doesn’t work then I’d just pay $300. It’s not that bad and it’s a great price for not being out of status. Plus, no delay in filing AOS and EAD.

  12. *** Topic moved from AOS K1 to AOS work/tourist/student visas as the applicant is not a K1 visa holder. This is based on GC holder spouse ***
  13. That makes sense, I suppose it’s worth a shot. I agree that for a not so easy consulate like Islamabad it would definitely help. As you said the worst that could happen is you’ll wait for a while outside. If it comes to that then I’d give the passport to the spouse to carry to the interview.
  14. Accompanying Persons Attorneys are not permitted to accompany clients into the waiting room or to their interview. Only the following persons may accompany a visa applicant to their interview: Interpreter: Applicants may bring ONE interpreter if they do not speak English or Urdu well enough to participate in an interview. Special Needs Visitors: Applicants may bring ONE person to help if they are elderly, disabled, or a minor child. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/ISL-Islamabad.html
  15. How long ago was that? After COVID, most consulates stopped letting petitioners go in. Your husband can take your passport with him and show it/give it together with other documents and say that “my wife is here visiting”. That usually works well.
  16. This happened three times so far today even after clearing cookies. Edit: just happened again after posting this. Sigh 😔

  21. I have always used a personal check for every step of the way in my immigration journey so far. For the record, we have credit cards and always use them for everything for points and cash back but a personal check gives me a peace of mind. I was worried for a sec only once: my husband had his check book before we got married so it was only his name on it and we didn’t feel like paying for another check book to have both of our names reflected. After reading threads here, this was fine - it could be literally anyone, all they want is withdraw the funds asap 🤑
