  1. Then please update your timeline to get better help and post in the correct forum to get best answers. The forum you posted in is got Bringing family members of US citizens (other than spouses) to the US. I have moved this topic to Adjustment of status from work/tourist/student visas.
  2. It would be helpful if you filled out your profile and timeline so people know what process you’re doing as the answer is different for different processes. Consular spousal visa cases do not require I-864 with I-130 submission. It’s required after I-130 approval at the NVC stage (about a year after I-130 submission)
  3. Another three threads merged into an existing thread. This is the last warning, next time it will be a suspension for spamming. VJ Moderation
  4. Hijack post removed and thread closed as the OP hasn’t come back to answer questions.

  7. Immigrant visas require a full covid vaccination (one or two series depending on the vaccine, no booster). You have an option of filing a waiver on moral or religious which will add a significant cost (filing fee), plus an attorney fee if you do use a lawyer and it will add at least a year on top of the usual 2 year processing time for a spousal visa.
  8. Text messages are unreliable. I’ve read plenary of posts where a text message notification was never received despite filing the form. I do not think this is something to lose sleep over, especially if it says “delivered” on tracking.
  9. Very true. It is now just too costly in my opinion and not worth it if you have an option of consular. I’m guessing it won’t any time soon as finding is not such a concern for DOS compared to USCIS. USCIS basically relies on fees to operate while DOS gets direct government funding so it’s not on their forefront of internal changes.
  10. This is only regrading USCIS. It doesn’t affect the Department of state as that’s a different agency.
  11. You said yourself Myprogress tab is not to be trusted. And it shouldn’t be, you’re still within normal processing times which is what USCIS will reply with as they will rely on the processing pages on USCIS which, if you input your info when you scroll down to “Get inquiry date”, it will tell you your case is progressing normally and not to contact them until November 2024: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
  12. Don’t feel bad. Fiancé visas no longer take 6 months, more like 18 months at best. Spousal visa is a much more superior visa. You’re looking at around 18-24 months.
  13. Related threads merged. Please do not start a new thread when you already have an existing related thread. You have also received good answers with links to all the necessary information. VJ Moderation

  18. Yes This depends on the circumstances. If he was just a visitor then no, I wouldn’t include it. If he lived as a resident on a long term visa for example then I’d include that. You should be as precise as possible, closest estimates should work. If it falls within the past 5 years from todays date then you have to include it.

  21. *** Topic moved from Progress Reports to Process & Procedures *** That’s unfortunate. You can try to send a letter to the service center handling the petition and explain the situation and include a properly filled out form. Make scans of everything you send for your own records. When the time comes to DS-160 update the information there as well.
