No, they will not. If you will need to travel or show your status for work, you will have to get an ADIT stamp at a field office.

Work permit is not just for working. It can be used as a form of ID too, it’s accepted in a lot places like banks and DMVs. I don’t really understand why people do not want to apply when it’s completely free and takes maybe 15 minutes to fill out the form.

There’s no such visa. Closest would be tourist visa.
Current income is what matters, even if past tax returns are below poverty guidelines. You should be just fine. For added peace of mind, consider also having HR write up an employment verification letter listing your salary, position, hire date etc.
