NVC's Initial Email
powerpuff replied to Rasberry.B's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
You bring those documents with you to the interview there are some consulates who request the documents to be brought or emailed ahead of the interview. Unlike spousal visas, NVC does not handle this for K1, it essentially just stores the petition until it’s shipped to the consulate. -

NVC will schedule the interview themselves after you get documentarily qualified (DQ). You’ll get an Interview letter, for now your mother’s case is still with NVC. Almaty is not a backlogged consulate, if shouldn’t take longer than maybe two months after DQ? That’s just my guesstimate. Check out the regional discussion forum here, there are a few threads on Russian applicants applying in Almaty: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/98-russia-ukraine-and-belarus/ If you’d like me to move this thread there, let me know and I’ll do that.

K1 applicants do not create accounts on CEAC or need the invoice ID. All you need to do is monitor the case status until it shows “Ready”. You do not need an account for that, you just write your case number in under Immigrant visa category: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?TSPD_101_R0=0883343043ab20002f3b4b91f4d64b0fc4f96ba21e39d238bafabeccd75b1291e4fc44091e0dcb460822faecfc143000600c233e783899b5333e68fbe042e54b90430af83d6dbe4aabf8f31b25a2c2f00e171c00baad1a00a99743149aca7daa -
yes it’s a great option. If it were available back in 2020 when we did K1, I would’ve definitely went for this option. But due to COVID border shut downs, we didn’t know when/how we would be able to marry since a lot of government places were shut down. Marriage license. It’s like with any county in the US. You must apply for a marriage license, wait for 24 hours (most cases - I’m sure some states have exceptions) and only after that you can get married and get a marriage certificate.
-
Yes, it’s a legitimate thing and very much a normal US marriage certificate issued by Utah county. For USCIS, they require the couple to meet in person after the Zoom ceremony if they were in separate locations so for couples that live in different countries this would mean taking a trip to the beneficiary to meet that USCIS requirement. However, you already are physically together so that doesn’t apply to you. That means you don’t have to be a resident. Just like in Las Vegas, people from all over the world can marry there.
-
EAD and AOS are completely separate cases. As an example, I filed I-485, I-765 and I-131. Had an interview for AOS about 7 months later and got my GC in mail a couple of weeks after that. I-765 and I-131 went untouched (showed “case actively being reviewed” - yeah right ) for another 4 months until someone picked it up and wiped the dust off of it to realize I already got the GC so it finally changed to “Benefit received through other means”. Just goes to show how unrelated these processes are.

Physical mail only Do you not have a check book for a US based checking account or a US credit card? It’s extremely rare for petitioners and when it’s needed, it’s usually when a certain criminal background is involved (Adam Walsh Act crimes). After COVID most consulates stopped letting petitioners accompany beneficiaries. As a side note, any particular reason you’re choosing K1 over CR1? K1 applicants have to adjust status once they arrive in the US and those fees are about to increase drastically:
-
So why not just apply now to get the ball rolling since you met already in person? You can’t marry if you want to pursue K1. K1 is for unmarried couples
-
*** Topic moved from Progress Reports to Process & Procedures *** Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying that you will be visiting the US to satisfy the requirement of physically meeting in the last 2 years? Have you met in person before as of now?

TKY number requested
powerpuff replied to valleyofthehills's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Sounds like they want the NVC case number which starts with 3 letters of the consulate. I’m assuming it’s TKY -
