PP31 got a reaction from fs2439 in Walk-in Biometrics Experience
    Hi all,

Wanted to share my Biometrics appointment Walk-in experience. I received the Biometrics Appointment letter yesterday with the appointment date of 1/10/2020 at Fort Worth, Texas - I expected them to schedule it in Charlotte, NC but I was suprised that they picked the ASC closer to my husband (My husband lives in Dallas but I live in Charlotte and I am visiting him for the holidays)

I went this morning to a different ASC location - Dallas, TX instead of Fort Worth, TX. The officers who were checking people in asked me to wait for someone - probably the Manager or incharge of that ASC. She asked me why I was there before my appointment date and I told her that I live in Charlotte and I had my flight the next evening. She asked me when I was going to come back and I said not until February. She asked me to show her some proof and I showed her my flight tickets. Then she wrote that I was allowed to proceed on my Appointment Letter.
Another person who walked in after me was sent away and asked to come back on the date specified on his Appointment letter.

So I guess if it weren't for the flight tickets, I would'nt have been allowed to proceed either.

I would stick to what the RFE letter has asked for usually, but If I can provide additional documents without any issues to help my case then I would, just to be on the safe side.

But yes as long as you provide everything that they have asked for then you should be fine.

yes you can share a photo of the letter you got.

I don't have any suggestions because of my lack of experience in this subject, but just wanted to say that I'm sorry for all the hardships your family is going through.  Hope there is some relief soon.

My case got updated to ‘Case is ready to be scheduled for interview’ On 02/14/2020.

filing from Dallas so it’ll probably take a year before the interview actually gets scheduled

If you only submitted one bank statement with a balance of $115,000 then you haven't provided enough information about your assets.
Typically they want to see cash assets that have accumulated over time and have been in the bank for a while.  One statement does not show this. How do you have so much money in the bank when you don't make enough in a year to live on?

Also be sure you're placing your periods correctly.  I see that you write $18.500 which I assume you mean $18,500.00 .  The placement of the period indicates cents. Anything less than one dollar.  Placing the period incorrectly means you made eighteen dollars and 50 cents versus eighteen thousand five hundred dollars.  It looks like you wrote one hundred fifteen dollars in the bank not one hundred fifteen thousand dollars in the bank.

Thank you! I called and turns out that they did actually answer and the guy was very kind, he said he would write a note so that they know not to deliver the package and I can go pick it up !
Now onto wondering about my SSN...

There is an 'Intercept package' option with USPS. It'll cost like $10 but you can ask them to deliver to a different address.
What I did yesterday was, I called the local USPS where my mail arrived and I requested them to hold it. Which they did.

I have never heard  of being able to do that, begs the question as to how it would be passed to those who administer the expedites.

Awesome. People at ASC are usually accomodating if the applicants have a genuine need to do a walk-in

Now the real waiting game begins, USCIS lists wait time for my field office as anywhere between 10.5-21.5 months. Fingers crossed it’s not that long

Update: received notice to attend biometrics appointment (sent to mother in law’s home - our registered address) for Feb 12th in Elizabeth, NJ. Booked round trip flights from Sydney to Honolulu, arriving Feb 5th. Went straight from airport to USCIS ASC. Told security why I was there and I was let through to the registration desk. No other person in the Honolulu ASC at 9.30am on a Wednesday. They were kind and helpful and allowed me to do a walk-in appointment after I told them I was unable to make my original appointment. Did fingerprints and photo. Was there for 10 minutes. All done.

I've seen a lot of expedite timelines. I'm sorry to say that there's no specific timeline for when a status changes during an expedite request .... Some people didn't even see the 'Request for additional information received' status and it directly changed to 'Card in Production'.

So your financial hardship is based on taking too many vacations? Hmm I don't know if that will work 🤔😉

ah It all depends on a case to case basis I guess. A lot of June applicants didn't get their EAD/Travel permits yet but somehow the November applicants have started receiving theirs. So it's quite something.

Hope for the best , prepare for the worst

Well I'm now in the triple digits of waiting... and I lurk these for forums all the time and thought it would be fun to pass the time if we shared a wedding photo to cheer each other up from this painful wait! 🥰 This is a countdown on my phone aha

Although its not on the visa timeline entry page, I thought I'd update here.  Today I received an NOA stating Receipt of my i-485J form, which was submitted as part of my i-485 package.  Dates that seem important:

    i-140 - Approved early 2019
    i-485 received date - 12/09/2019
    Bio appt - 12/30/2019
    i-485J Notice Date - 01/24/2020

No updates online on the i-485 (presumably because the i-485J was given its own receipt number, which states 'Fees were waived' on the case status checked).

Hope this helps anyone else with an ominous looking letter from the USCIS in USPS Informed Delivery

I am so bored out of my damn mind!
I've been here since August of last year and while it was fine the first couple of months I'm actually losing my mind over this, at first I was like:
"Oh yeah, prolonged vacation! Able to do and learn so much! I can finally work on all the projects I've been meaning to do for the last years! I have all these cool ideas and inspirations that I can put into work!" and more but, not having a job is killing my, for a lack of a better word, "vibe"
It's as if for me to be able to function properly I need to be able to serve a higher cause, and that includes slaving myself away towards the government lol.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually "bored" I know I have and can do a TON of stuff but not having a job just simply kills everything, my creativity, my inspiration, my ideas, etc.
I really would do anything to get back the freedom and things I used to have back home, being able to transport myself wherever I wanted, have a job, earn money, studying, my friends, my family, stores even, just, everything...
I know it was a trade off when we decided to venture into this, sacrificing my entire life just for the person I love but this just feels like torture by now.

All in all, the things we do for love.
