You are possibly getting confused with the i944, which is no longer needed. The i864 is the affidavit of support and is definitely needed.

    Hello VJ members!

As of December 2020, US embassy in Algeria have resumed limited processing of new immigrant visas, including K1/K2 fiancee visas, and are beginning with those cases scheduled and cancelled in March 2020.

I'm asking and making this topic in hopes that someone here has heard back and has a date yet? I know they are probably backed up and have many cases but I'm curious if anyone here has a date yet. And if so, was your original date canceled or this will be your first interview date.

    Thanks!

This question does not pertain to K-1 visa applicants but because this document is trying to serve two different communities, immigrant and non-immigrant, it is nevertheless on the form.

In the new revised I-134 form dated 2/28/2021 - Question #38 now regards contributions.  You leave the yes/no boxes "unchecked" and your explanation is submitted in Part 7 on page 8 of the new form.

    You will do this:
    3.a. "Page 4"
    3.b. "Part Number 3"
    3.c. "Item Number 38"
3.d. "N/A (K1 Visa Process For Permanent Residence)"

I'm definitely taking notes! I'm so so sorry this happened to you. Even I wasn't aware of the extent of the ban. And now I'm doing a lot more research. I hope you and your Fiancé can be together soon. And I would highly recommend that he books WITH royal air Maroc. They're a good airline and it's a direct flight! One flight is always better than two. I hope everything works out for you both! Good luck and happy new year

I'm worried about this. The next flight back to Casablanca will put him over his 24 hours.

I didn't really want to be trending for this sort of thing. I hope at least someone can read this and learn from our mistake.

Your friend has nothing to do with his spouse's naturalization. She can apply it based on 5 years of being green card holder later on or she just renews her green card when her card expires, no requirement to file for citizenship. If your friend thinks the marriage is not based on love, divorce and move on. Good luck.

I also used this service to translate birth certificates.  They did a really nice job and it only took 2 or 3 days.  Costs about $20-25 per page.

It's not for USCIS. It's to just to have in general. Considering my all Fiancés documents aren't in English. The ones needed for the interview are already in process of being translated. But they only do specific forms. It's weird.

Try SpanTran.  They give you the option of scanning a copy of your transcript and degree certificate .. paying $85 extra.. and they will get it verified by the institution.

warning... DONT use World Evaluation Services  right now,  as they are not mailing out any hard copies of their accreditation reports to either you or the agency you need the report for .. my report has been completed by WES June 5 but the agency I am dealing with for teacher certification won’t accept electronic reports .. only hard copy. $265 wasted.

Most translations are made based on scanned documents, so, given that you're not in a rush, if you have a planned trip to Algeria, send them ahead of time and just pick up the translations while there.
It will certainly be cheaper than getting them officially translated here.

If the translation is for the USCIS, you can get a friend or acquaintance to do it. No professional services needed.

We went the CR1 route due to personal reasons. I was meant to be on a K1 but we had to withdraw it as my father had a heart attack, so we moved our wedding to the UK. The withdrawal process took a while as well.

Actively going the tourist visa route is fraud (I agree with you) and it could get the poster's SO banned from the US and will struggle to rectify this in future. I remember one of the questions being "have you ever been turned down for a US visa".

Concerning and also considering everyone else going the correct route, frustrating also.

I thought so as well. Which is why I recommend them to them the K-1 process or get married and then file for i130 and wait for approval. I just wanted to see if the method they are thinking of would be accepted but I had a feeling it wouldn't. Otherwise it would be done more often.

I think the problem may be that trying to get an AOS on a tourist visa through marriage can be seen as fraud (not saying it will but it may look like that to the US immigration). I recommend a K1 or get married in their home country and get a CR1.
I emigrated on the latter visa.
If they see it as fraud then your fiance may be barred from the US. I just want you to be cautious that's all.
  23. Thanks
Kidayi reacted to Hawksquill in Marriage in Tourist Visa
So they're not currently in the US? If they haven't entered yet and are planning to enter on a tourist visa, get married, and adjust status, that's fraud.  There's a grey area for people who enter on a tourist visa and spontaneously decide to get married while they're here, but it sounds like your friend doesn't fit that category.

To do this lawfully they would need to enter, get married, leave, and apply for I-130, or wait to get married and apply for K1.

  24. Thanks
Kidayi reacted to Lil bear in Marriage in Tourist Visa
Entering the US using a tourist visa with the intention of staying and adjusting status after getting married during that visit is visa fraud. Enter and marry , yes.. then return to home country while the  I130 and CR1 process is being completed
  25. Thanks
Kidayi reacted to Hamidparis in Marriage in Tourist Visa
Hi, I don't think you can ajust a status within the US, I did the same thing and had to apply from France and waited all the processing time before getting my GC and then apply for citizenship.

If they get married in the US the spouse need to go back to his country and apply for a visa then.

    Regards
