It's a pleasant surprise. I was actually planning on applying for my citizenship shortly but may wait a little bit.

Thank you! If it's in part of the receipt number above the letter of approval then it's MSC, National Benefits Center.

Hope that helps. I have honestly lost track of the whole process and had my 3yr mark for eligibility for citizenship marked which was actually now. I was content with my 48 month extension even though it's a little more of a hassle to travel with and makes checking in early almost impossible.

    Wishing you all luck!

    The trip was a success!

When flying back to the US from London Heathrow, Virgin Atlantic wouldn't let me complete online check-in (no bother though), so I went to the counter and they were happy with the documents. I took: UK Passport, Expired US Green Card, USCIS Extension Letter, and US Marriage Certificate.

When I arrived back in the States, I went through Global Entry and the officer asked to see and check my USCIS Extension Letter. It was very quick and they were satisfied.

I posted the same/similar topic not so long ago. Basically Three will be the best network as it allows a like home roaming which allows you to call and text like in the UK. However with regarding data etc it seems like there is a fair usage policy in place where they will cancel data usage beyond 3 months... I have a pay as you go and a dual SIM Phone which I intend to use both the UK and a new US SIM card. I am already in the US and rely on data via WiFi only to save money but have mobile data in for my texts/calls. My old number was also transferred to the new Three SIM.

UK phones should work fine but I think it depends on bandwidth(?) but most new phones are fine.

    Hi all,

Just here to remind everywhere to fill out a P85 form to get your income tax refund with HMRC when you move. I saw it mentioned here once but don’t see many people talking about it. You have to do it after you’ve left the UK, but it’s all online and really simple to do!

I did mine when I moved in late September. It took them a while to write to me (the letter just arrived today - over 2 months later) but I just found out I’m due a repayment £1249/ $1676!! They enclosed a cheque with the letter. That’ll help us recoup some of the costs of me moving here and will help with Christmas presents too.

DO NOT FORGET!! You could get a decent amount for just 5 minutes of your time.

Did you check-in online for the flight? London has the following FAQ: https://uk.usembassy.gov/information-for-nonimmigrant-visa-applicants-following-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak/
Do not attempt to check in for your flight online if you have an ESTA registration. Arrive early for your flight. Carry any documentation that you believe demonstrates why you have been excepted from a travel restriction, such as a Permanent Resident card (commonly known as a Green Card), a marriage certificate, or a birth certificate, so that it is available if it is requested for review. You may also wish to carry a copy of the Presidential Proclamation itself. Your status will be reviewed in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials.

There is a difference between being driven by fear and following scientific guidance in keeping careful and safe from a very real threat. I agree life still has to go on and we shouldn't live in fear but pretending it's not a big deal and like a little bout of flu is simply wrong.

I'm still trying to get to grips with a politician using the phrase that our Prime Minister "gave in to the scientists"... Erm like yeah, dude. Who else are you going to listen to? Your corrupt advisors who have no idea what they are dealing with?

I still find it baffling people are happy for vulnerable demographics to be killed off because it doesn't affect them directly. A lockdown is temporary. People losing loved ones to a ravaging disease in one of the worst possible ways is pretty permanent.

As for how it affects children etc.. I'm pretty sure during the wars, they didn't like that either. We adapt and learn to safeguard ourselves from threats. This is one of those times.

If I don't make sense or come across too emotional- blame night shifts on an ICU and reassuring patients that may potentially require tubing (intubation) and listening to them reflect upon life...and I can't stress enough that these patients are also in their 30s, 40s and 50s more so with very little past medical histories.
Would be interesting to look back on the data when this is finally over.

Pretty ####### but I don't think it will be as disastrous as it was the first time round though. In theory, we know what we are dealing with. Most of us are just tired and desperately need a break. I think it is normal for us to see deaths in our unit but the way our COVID patients are passing especially without their families is heartbreaking and not what we are used to at all. We are usually able to implement more dignified deaths and COVID simply strips that option.

The vaccine news is actually really hopeful. I understand the distrust amongst the public at a new vaccine but honestly, after all I have seen, I am willing to take the chance and say the same to my loved ones. I am a firm advocate for the flu vaccine as I know it does prevent deaths, this vaccine should do the same.
