bandito reacted to Ben&Zian in I-129F we met on an app?
It depends if it is a known or "common" app. If unsure, it doesn't hurt to send the TOS in with the I129f petition. Some have received RFE's for unknown or unfamiliar apps/dating sites.

The issue with just saying you met online is the IO can - at their discretion - require evidence that they are not an IMB. Just checking No on the I-129F to the IMB question is not sufficient for some officers/circumstances, and supporting evidence is needed.
IMO, send the TOS to avoid any potential issue. It may not be necessary (as you can see some others were approved without it), but it may avoid an RFE (others did get an RFE for this).

i understand your feelings, however, me working would mean that i have to remain across the world tied to a job for no reason. Big expense can be subjective, especially when you have a parent that doesn't mind investing in their child's happiness and has the means of doing so.

We are a gay couple so no children, and I don't like to think about that and find it borderline rude that you'd talk about my mother dying, but for the sake of the conversation, I will obviously inherit assets and savings money making me able to support my partner myself.

London allows joint sponsors. Happens all the time. They don't frown on you or get emotional in their decision. Sure they may think it's a poor way to go into a marriage, but their personal feelings won't allow for visa denial. Provide a sponsor (mother) and you meet the requirement. Done.

My husband (then fiancé) and I went through the London Embassy for the K-1. I am under 26 and still in college (so couldn't work full time due to school but I do work part time). I make just under the poverty guideline (like only 1000 dollars short). My dad co sponsored my husband for the k-1 since I did not make enough and we had no issues with the I-134 or the I-864 (with AOS). I was living at home when we filed but moved out on my own several months into the process. I highly recommend this. Meanwhile, my husband was working full time in the UK and living at home to save money for when he got over here and we would be waiting for his EAD/Green card. London is definitely an easier embassy than others but I still highly recommend that you both start working. Married life is hard and definitely not inexpensive. On top of that, K-1 fees and AOS fees are hefty and 5-6 months with the beneficiary not working is stressful.

In your shoes I would suggest you pursue the CR1 route instead. You'll still need a joint sponsor and the wait time is just a little bit longer, but she will be able to work and have a green card pretty soon after she arrives here. It is also much less expensive than the K-1. There are many jobs that are great for people in your shoes. I work as a server where i can make a lot of money in not as many hours and no degree is required. Its a great job to start as.

You'll find there are a lot of unforeseen costs with moving your fiancé over to the United States (healthcare being one of them as mentioned above). Start by reading the guides on here they are incredibly informative and also check out the UK sub-forum. IF you have any more questions you can feel free to PM me.

bandito reacted to Wuozopo in I-129F circumstances of meeting 54.
Whatever pleases you. I look at the big picture in hindsight with much experience and realize for somebody from the UK, this is not as daunting as you imagine. The requirement is meet once in person. Staying five months does not enhance the fact and makes you sound unemployed. (You know you need an income for the affidavit of support?) But if you like it, go with it. It is short and fits the space.

I understand this is new and overwhelming. Do skip all the message logs/chats. Passport stamps, boarding passes, credit card or ATM transactions putting you in the UK or vice versa are proof of meeting.

    I go along with payxibka.

    The instructions say:
Item Numbers 53. - 54. Have you and your fiancé ancé(e) met in person during the two years immediately before filing this petition? Indicate whether you and your fiancé ancé(e) have seen each other in person during the two year period immediately before to filing your petition. Select “N/A” if the beneficiary is your spouse.
If you respond “Yes” to Item Number 53., use Item Number 54. to describe the circumstances of your in-person meeting. Attach evidence to demonstrate that you were in each other's physical presence during the required two year period.

WE MET IN PERSON FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE USA IN JULY 2018... when [name] visited me at my home in [city, state].

You have to meet the requirement of seeing each other face to face, not tell a love story.

bandito reacted to geowrian in Here is the reason you have to have medical insurance while you are in the US waiting for EAD/AP
To be fair, the invoice indicates it was a blood test, not a take-home urine test. The blood test is more definite and shows a positive result earlier, and the phlebotomist has to draw the blood and such. I'm not saying it's not inflated....but it isn't the $10-$20 home test either.

Unless the street and number also match another building you do not need to put the apartment building name in.    You can also put the name in the last section for additional information.

bandito reacted to Loren Y in Here is the reason you have to have medical insurance while you are in the US waiting for EAD/AP
Just throwing this out there because people don't understand how messed up the medical system is here in the United States, and think they can skate by without insurance for a few months. My fiancee came here end of November 2018, we married February 2019, and first thing I did was add her to my insurance ( Thank God). April 5th 2019 a Friday night at about 10pm she is dying with pain on her right side. I can tell its not good at all, so we rush to the ER Friday night for help. I'll spare you all the boring nightmarish details of getting health care here in the United States, that is another topic in it's own. What I want to point out that this hospital bill for the ER visit, Testing, emergency Surgery, and 1 day in the hospital billed out at 60,108.21. That is 60 thousand dollars just for the hospital, then there is the Surgeon, Radiology, Lab, and the anesthesiologist, that will be billing separate from the hospital to a tune of another 10,000.00. This is for a simple surgery performed over 300,000 times a year here in the US with no complications or anything that required special care. This is why CO's are always worried you will become a public charge. this is one short trip to the hospital, for a simple surgery. Know this going in that you could be facing this or worse if something happens while you try to get employment or insurance and think it won't happen to us, because I thought the same thing. This is just one page of the 13 page bill below. It was for Appendicitis, and removal of appendix.

Good news about this whole nightmare is that I had no problem getting the EAD card expedited with a 60 thousand dollar medical bill. So, for the record this will qualify you for Financial Hardship in the eyes of USCIS.

That’s not “the plan” per se, the plan is to either live with my mother, or she can help us rent a place together. She isn’t opposed to either of these options as she has a large enough house with enough income, her and I have spoken already about the topic and she is behind us 100%.

my fiance wouldnt lie, and i dont think they suspected fraud. She wanted to know if there was anything she could show them then, or anything she could bring next time and book a second appointment to get her student visa. they said if it were me i wouldnt come back. i dont think it was in response to all visas, and my fiance doesnt seem to think so either.

Just as an FYI ... you've lived with your partner in the UK for five months. If you married now (either in the UK or the US or elsewhere), you could probably file for a CR-1 via DCF in London next month and it would be much faster than a K-1 even given the much faster K-1 processing times now vs last year ... and your partner would be a permanent resident right away rather than having to go through the (often quite long) adjustment of status process to be able to work and return to the US without a new visa (and drive, probably, but that's a state by state thing).

Just to let you know, if you (as in you specifically, not your family etc) have sufficient savings you may not need a joint sponsor. I also think it may be useful to be filing taxes based on the interest earned from accounts/CDs etc in your own name - if you are not already.

Lots of people go half-way around the world to attend community colleges.  Go to any community college and you will find an international student office.

Most California community colleges allows for automatic transfers to 4 years public schools - a UC or a SU.  Tuition at a community college is about $10,000 while a 4 years school is about $40,000.  Why spend $80,000 for general education courses when you can spend $20,000 at a community college and then transfer.
