  1. Update 10/12/19

just got a rejection letter from the IRS. In the letter it stated we were rejected and needed to provide prof of forigen stats.

The IRS off made a copy of my wife's passport and sent it in. So apparently they didn't accept the copy their office sent in.

The letter also said I can resubmit by sending the original passport, national ID card,  or a state issued ID. So they didn't accept the passport copy their own office made.

I I guess I'll just wait until I file my taxes and attach the W-7.

Hi all, I’m sure this has been posted before however I was unable to find the forums. I am the usc currently going through the K1 visa process with my fiancé. He use to go to school in China for 2 years but is now back in his home country and we need to get his police clearance for the next phase of the process. We do not have an interview scheduled yet but are trying to be proactive to get all documents needed. We keep running into dead ends when it comes to reaching out to his friends out there to help and go get it for him. Is there anyone out there that can provide assistance or insight on how we can obtain one? Or even just the clearance from his school? Please reach out thanks!

Here's another good post, they ended up going to China to get their report.

My second question is about the insurance, my husband tried to add me to his insurance but they told him that I have to be there and to have the SSN but they can give us a letter states that they will add me to his insurance when I get to the US even if it's not the enrollment time..

Will that letter be enough for the CO ?

I was able to add my wife to my insurance w/o a SSN. Stating this year, the company that manages our benefits plan said a SSN was required. But after calling and explaining we are waiting for her visa and SSN to be issued I was able to add her. They said just call when she has a SSN and update the file. So it might company specific. But a SSN is not required for insurance.

However i did find this on the IRS website. It might explain why the insurance company wants it. It seems a TIN should work.

Q1. My health insurance company has requested that I provide them with my social security number and the social security numbers of my spouse and children.  Is there a reason why they need our social security numbers?

A1. Your health insurance company is required to provide Form 1095-B, Health Coverage to you and to the Internal Revenue Service. You will use information from the form to prepare your individual income tax return. The law requires SSNs to be reported on Form 1095-B.

Q5: If I do not have a social security number (SSN) or other tax identifying number (TIN) for myself or other covered individuals, such as my spouse or dependents, should I contact the IRS to obtain  a social security number or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) so that I can give it to my health coverage provider?

A5: No, it is not necessary for you to contact the IRS if you do not have an SSN or a TIN.  You should advise your coverage provider that you do not have an SSN or TIN and give them the date of birth for each covered individual.

Petitioner: For yourself be aware there will be a change on the i-864 starting 10/15 im not sure how drastic it is. With that said they will not accept that current form if its not post dated/stamped 10/14. Im not sure what i-164ez is but the 864 has multiple different variations so make sure you use the one that will Work for you.

Applicant: wife she will need passport biographic page, 2x2 photo and marriage certificate to add to the ones you already listed.

Thanks for the reminder about the new versions. I'll have to redo them =(

Also nice list you posted. Thanks

  5. My wife kept her last name after we got married. We figured it would be a huge PIA for her since she would have to update her information in China and Japan. If we were younger she would have changed it (so she says haha).

We never thought that changing her last name would make it easier to transition. I mean it is America, people's last names are all over the place. Plus we'll be living in an area were people are used to Asian last names.

I don’t have a problem doing it, but I honestly have no idea where and how because I’ve never looked at it

There’s no cult. But when people are super aggressive and pushy about it, others don’t want to do it.

It doesn't bother me if you do or don't. (but it does help the stats). I just saw a chance to use the giant emoji(?) thing and had to do it. 😃

When USCIS send your case to NVC they update your case online ( USCIS.gov or my USCIS ) and you have the notification “case sent to the department of state “

case tracker was the quickest to advise me lol

Thanks I'll keep checking there. =(

I have very little faith those sites are truthful haha

One site still shows received, the other says case was approved.

Why do some submit the I-130, and then the I-129F?

There's a theory that submitting the I-129F after the I-130 will trigger a review of your I-130.  Both will be reviewed at the same time.

edit: I say theory because, as far as i know, there's nothing from USCIS stating such. Although there are some pretty good post on VJ about it.

    I-130

    NOA1 12/14/18 NSC

    Filed I-129f on 08/12/19

    DENIED I-129f on 09/16/19 (today)

I just received notice via Case Tracker this afternoon.  I suppose this is "good" news?  Best of luck to those still waiting to hear.  My wife is Portuguese living in the UK for anyone curious.

I have the same date as you for the I-129F. My I-130 date is 3/9/19. But both the old and new USCIS website just say case received. Your denial gives me hope I'll get one soon as well 😃
