I didnt get any copy or proof that I sent the inquiry so I am scared that for some random reason they didnt get it and I am just here waiting for nothing.

I am trying to call again to insist on the change of location, I dont want to wait to get a response to my inquiry and then maybe get DQ in the meantime and loosing valuable time.

That was also frustrating for me. You won't get any proof other than the confirmation on the website. You just have to keep checking the website to see how far the backlog is.

    "Current email response time" Section

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

Be sure to include your current address in the body of the letter or you'll get another rejection.

Edit: Every time I talked with someone at NVC I was told to send an email through their website. AskNVC

  2. Don't forget to include your current (Germany) address in the body of your email to NVC. Try to do it before you get DQ as well. The sooner the better.

    ---My location change mission ---

When I called NVC they said I only needed to email proof my wife lived in the requested county.  (Which they already had in all applications.)  When I emailed NVC I only included what they said I needed, proof of legal residence. Well, the request was rejected with a message saying to submit again with the address in the body of the email.

While waiting, her application got DQ, sent to China, interview scheduled, and then the outbreak happened and China shut down.... Whenever I called NVC, the consulate, or Embassy I got conflicting information on who to contact and what was needed.

Eventually I contacted my repetitiveness for help. They got some of the same copy/paste responses but were able to get the case transferred within about a week. Now we are waiting for a new interview date.

  3. Just got word from one my my representative's office about my wife's case.

The Tokyo embassy contacted Guangzhou to request a transfer and it was accepted. Now the case is assigned to Japan. It seems there is still staff in the IV unit doing something other than twiddling their thumbs. (Maybe)

They are such pieces of . I just got back the email from Guangzhou, i emailed them two days ago and they responded with a copy and paste of what’s on the USTravelDocs page about services being suspended etc. Wow.

I know your pain. Guangzhou sent the same copy/paste response to my Representative's office that sent an inquiry for us.

    - Transfer my wife's case to Tokyo. - Contact the embassy you wish to transfer the case to directly.

Thankfully, they didn't accept that copy/paste answer and are working to expiate, and escalate, our request with Tokyo and Guangzhou.

The reply from the Tokyo office was much better and not so copy/paste looking.

  5. I saw your post in the other thread and didn't want to highjack anymore 😃

I'm sorry to hear about him getting the #### treatment in China too. That really makes the situation worse. Getting the police reports will also be a PIA. Is there any chance he can get help from his embassy getting things sorted out?

  6. Yes exactly!

It wouldn't surprise me if I get a reply from Japan saying to contact China or NVC

On the upside, my Representative's got a reply from their inquiries. The consulate told them I need to contact Japan directly to request a change... :bonk:

I'm starting to understand why people don't want to do immigration the correct way.

...... they told me we have the option of sending it to his home country instead. Ugh. Good luck everyone. This sucks!!!!!!

If you want to change locations contact the NVC with proof he's a citizen of that country, provide a local address and phone number. Then also contact the embassy/consulate in his home country to request a change. Hell, contact Guangzhu and request a change as well. Then be prepared to wait weeks for a reply.

Oh and you have to do it through their respective websites.

Depending on who you talk to you'll get a different answer about what to do. It is very annoying.  That's what I've learned during this endeavor to get my wife's interview location changed.  (I left a nice little rant on the thread you started).

Thank you for your reply. I’ve been trying to gather all the information and figure out what’s going on. Last week saw that visa appointments were available for feb 20th, now form this email I know that they have cancelled all of them for that week. This is problematic. They need to do something, we can’t be stuck in limbo for months. I was hoping and had faith that we could interview some time in March, but that’s seeming more and more unlikely since NVC won’t even send our petition to Guangzhou. We also have the option of having the Interview in his home country, but I worry because the embassy there schedules the appointments and it sometimes takes 2-3 months to get an appointment whereas Guangzhou is weeks, or was weeks until this virus happened. So frustrating.

TLDR: Email the Guangzhou consulate, email NVC, email the location you want to change the interview to and do it sooner rather than later.  If you call they will tell you email them. So do both.

Well, I'm a bit ticked off right now it was smooth sailing at first but now it's just..... so a slight rant....

I've been trying to get my wife's case assigned to Tokyo. She's a legal resident and has lived there for over 10 years. We requested Tokyo from the get go but the case was assigned to China. When I called NVC to request a change they said to include proof she lived in Japan with the application and it wouldn't be a problem.  Well, after becoming DQ, it was still assigned to China.

So I called again. NVC said to email them (askNVC) and send proff she lives in Japan. Ok, no problem I sent an email with her ID card. Which NVC said would be proof enough. A few days before we receive the interview email, we got a message from NVC saying to submit more information. WTH? The information they are asking for was already provided. So I sent it again through askNVC.

In the meantime I called NVC to see WTH is going on. NVC told me to contact China directly to request a change. Only problem, it was the Chinese New Year holiday, then it got extended. So nobody was answering the phone. I was able to email China and requested a change. I didn't hear anything back so I called again. This time I was told they could see the application. They could see she lived in Japan but there was nothing they (China) could do. I was told the only way to request a change or to service the application was through email.

Since I already had a pending email I didn't think it would be a problem. Well seems I was wrong. About 30 minutes ago I got an email from the Guangzhou consulate. Guess what! The email said they said to "direct your request to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General where you wish the case to be processed."

So now it's been over a month just for them to email me and tell me to contact Japan directly. So I did. Japan said to fill out a form online requesting a transfer. The best part is, there's no timeline and it will be up to Guangzhou to decide if they want to release the case to Japan. It could be a week. It could be several months. Apparently it depends on the case load on China and if anybody is working.

I contacted my repetitiveness last week in the hopes they can do something. But we are not holding our breath. If her police reports expire before her interview we will abandon her visa. Honestly after this neither of us care to deal with the US government again.

  9. My wife's visa interview was scheduled for the 24th. She got an email last night saying all interview for that week were canceled. Which might be a good thing us since we've been trying to change her interview location for quite some time now.

    Dear applicant,

Due to the evolving situation with the novel corona virus and the Chinese government’s response, U.S. Consulate Guangzhou is cancelling immigrant visa appointments the week of February 24.  We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

    鉴于新型冠状病毒疫情的发展为配合中国政府开展相关工作,美国驻广州总领事馆将在224日这一周取消移民签证面试。我们将会尽快恢复常规签证服务,但目前无法提供具体的日期。

    Sincerely,

here's another thread worth checking out.

  10. My wife got this email last night. It looks like all of the interviews in China (region?) are being canceled regardless. We're in the same boat as you with the police reports. If the reports expire we'll most likely give up on her US visa.  It might be a good idea to contact your representatives for help. Maybe her case can be transferred to another location.

Honestly there's probably nothing they can do but it beats calling NVC everyday.

MY I-129F was denied today. How long do you think its going for them to look at my I-130. PD Jan 4th.2019; congressional expedite. I am not even sure whether the expedite was approved or not.

It took about a day for my I-130 to update after the I-129f denial.

The I-129f was denied because I already had an I-130 approved so I didn't qualify for the I-129f/K3 anymore.

If you wouldn't mind sharing, how do you plan on contacting the GUZ embassy? It seems like most of the phone numbers and emails on the GUZ website and on VisaJourney are for NOA1/NOA2/Interview support :(

I got contact information from UStraveldocs.com which is the same as the embassy page. But i'm not sure if the numbers listed route to the US or if the people are actually in China. I called the US number and was told the only way they can help me is if I submit an inquiry online first. (I've been trying to get my wife's interview location changed for a while now).

    Hello everyone,

Hope is well. I have a question regarding AOS. If I am submitting Tax transcripts from my last recent tax year for financial evidence, do I need to include my W-2’s? Thanks.

    Justino

I included my W-2 forms in the Additional AOS Supporting Documentation.

According the chart thing, I only needed to submit a copy of the transcripts.  But I also submitted my complete 1040 forms. So that might have done it for me.

(Sorry I know that help answer your question.) But I can't see why it hurt any.

    edit: my application was approved

  14. I've called NVC  3 times to find out how to switch locations. Each time I was told something different.  I was told anything that can show you're a legal resident in the country you want to switch to.

So if you want to switch to your (applicant's)  home country a copy of the passport should be ok.

If you want to switch to a different country you'll need to show a document  that shows legal residence of the country you want to switch to should work as well.

So for my most recent email I sent:

Copy of country resident ID card (there is not a visa stamp available)

    Copy of local driver's licence

    Company insurance card

Include the local address and phone number

    NVC Contact:

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

It seems some people can switch without any problems and others......

Be surer to include a local address and phone number in your fist email.

    I hope this helps

    Hello Everyone,

We have received our case number last night (yayyy! 😉

We are about to pay the fees BUT we noticed they have misspelled my spouse's middle name (he is the petitioner).

Does anyone has encounter a bug like this? How long will it delay our process? Do we need to call to have someone correct it?

    Thank you very much,

    Alix

To add on to the advice from others: You might want to email them (AskNVC) as well.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

I've been trying to get my problem fixed and they just keep saying to email them the information. This is despite including the information in the original application and in an earlier I sent them. NVC just says to email again because there's nothing they can do unless the information comes in an email.

I'm not sure I believe them but whatever...  :bonk:

Hello @Scott001 and thank you for the reply, I would try calling them on Monday morning. I have no clue who Tetsunori is.

Good luck and hang in there. You’re in for a long and possibly frustrating process. You’ll find lots of help (and some drama) on this site. 😃

But we’re all in this together.

Thank you @Naes for always replying to me, I did email them if I need the original family register but they only got back to me with a generic answer of “ if your documents are in a different language it should be translated in english” apparently my fiance emailed them but they haven’t gotten back to us yet

I’m sure there is some mix up. And you’ll probably have better luck calling. It might suck and be a take a lot of time but it’s better than generic email responses.

Double check your application. I know I made a few mistakes on my wife’s I-130. (I’m still trying to correct them and it’s a PIA).

But The question remains who is Tetsunori? And why does USCIS think that is your son.

Is that who you’re filing the K1 for? Is that your step dad? Did you check a wrong box? Did you put a name in the wrong place? Or did USCIS just make a mistake?

(sorry for the odd size text. I’m copy/paste from a phone).
