    I also have a few of other questions too....

    1) On the I-130 I have to put my previous addresses.

    Don't know sorry

    If you are a US Citizen from birth, the checkbox should = "NO"

    It would only be YES if you have a Certificate of Naturalization or a Certificate of Citizenship. A birth certificate is neither of those. (Google image search it)

    3) Last year I was going to do the fiance visa but then changed my mind. In that petitioner form, it had me put all of my information about my past arrests to include police reports and court hearing documents. On the I-130 it does not ask for these things. Do I not need to add these into the package? Is this stuff brought up during another time of the process?

    Thanks everybody big time!

    I did not include any of that information on our application for the same reason. It's not asked for. But I do have copies of the arrest reports/documents. It might come up later, IDK. If it does, be honest and own it. What happened happened and it's in the past. I've told my wife about my prior arrests so she's not caught off guard if it does come up. Plus I'm sure the government can and will find out.

    For your address question - I completed as much as I could then used the Additional Information section to show the address in the correct format and language.

    [EDIT] After you get notification USCIS received/accepted your application, don't expect to hear anything for a long time. Today is day 80 for our application, only 300 more days to go.....

    -Copy of Birth Certificate OR passport (or both?)

    I just included both. Copy of every page in my PP and a copy of my birth cert. Figured I have it so why not.

    I was going to include photos of her but decided not to once I saw it was not needed. But I did make a note on the cover letter they were not included at this time and why.

    I copy/pasted the correct address format in Japanese and Chinese in the Additional Information section.  She's Chinese but a perm resident of Japan but was on assignment in china when we applied for the I-130.

    Since we've applied I've added her to my insurance and put on as an authorized user for my CCs. On her next trip here we will file for a ITIN.

    As far as some of the other things that were probably not needed but:

    • I included cards we had sent to each other..... OK cards I had saved the cards I sent her (for over 10 years)
    • Some old emails
    • Somehow I still had copies of airline tickets from a trip we took together 10 years ago
    • Copies of her I-94 showing prior visits to US
    • Photos - Printed 4 on page using a color laser printer. Some of the wedding, some of prior trips, etc. I think 20ish total
    • Copies of our joint bank account

  3. My packet was processed 2 days after it received (USPS tracking). I got a text message then the letter in the mail about 2 weeks later. Once you have your receipt # you can track your case online.  You might be able to turn on email/text notification once you create an account on the USCIS website. But not too sure. Welcome to the waiting game.

    Hi guys,

    My my case is not available to view yet when I entered receipt number on USCIS website.

    I filled on 22/03 and received NOA1 28/03.

    we called up twice and they said it’s normal as they are switching system to the online process, hence the wait to transfer the cases online. Also why they have cases number starting with IOExxxxxxxxx.

    Anybody else experiencing the same?

    Shoukd i I be worried? 😿

    A few other people got IOE numbers. Try checking out page 10 of this thread.

    I think it took a few weeks for those to show up.

    Here's a few other links:

  5. When my wife and I opened a joint bank account we had to fill one out.

    The lady at the credit union explained because she didn't a SSN/ITIN/GC the only way we could open a joint account was to complete the W8. Also, I also had to be primary on the account.  They took a copy of her passport and my ID, we signed some other papers, and we were on our way.

    Other than the 15-20 min it took for them to figure out how to open an account for someone without a SSN/ITIN, there were no issues.

    HSFCU is where we opened the account.

  6. I haven't lived in CA for about 15 years. So my memory is a little fuzzy.

    Whine I was living there you didn't need a DL to register a car or have insurance. Any type of official ID and proof of residency (utility bill, rental agreement, etc.) was good enough.  I believe this is because a DL is not a requirement for owning a car. But the still needs to be registered. Owning a car does not mean you're the one driving it.

    Same was true for insurance since it was/is a requirement for registering a car. Of course you would have to pay a lot more $$$ because the plan would cover any driver with a valid licence.

    As far as obtaining a gold star ID/DL I don't know.

    Again I've been out of CA for a long time and don't plan on living there again.

  7. I don't think it will matter since the MO is already a 3rd party (bank/CU/whatever). If you wan to play it safe, use the petitioner's name.

    But you might want to consider paying with check. It will be easier to verify/prove you paid. You'll also be able to see it hit your account and you can get a copy of the cashed check if you need to.

    It took about 5 days after I got the confirmation text from USCIS for the check to clear my account.

    I've written a few letters to the Congressmen in my area, this is the response I received via email, just a short while ago. I think I'm more annoyed that this non-response doesn't even address anything remotely relating to anything in the letters I've sent.

    I got the same basic canned response form my House Rep and one of my senators. However, I got this gem of a response from Mazie Hirono today:

    Dear Scott,

    Thank you for contacting me regarding President Trump’s national emergency declaration and his border security and immigration enforcement policies. These efforts are part of the Trump Administration’s broader anti-immigrant agenda and are deeply concerning to me. I appreciate hearing from you about these important issues.

    As a candidate, Donald Trump stoked anger and fear against immigrants with harmful rhetoric and campaign promises that included building a wall at the southern border and making Mexico pay for it, and banning Muslims from entering the country. These policies, combined with the Administration’s indiscriminate immigration enforcement and abandonment of prosecutorial discretion, which divert limited resources to further Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda, have fueled great anxiety and undermined public safety in communities nationwide.

    Recently, President Trump held federal government employees hostage in a 35-day partial government shutdown to get funding for his border wall. When he failed to secure funding, he circumvented Congress and declared a national emergency in order to divert billions of dollars away from previously approved military construction projects for his vanity wall.

    While the President has declared a fake emergency, he has largely ignored the humanitarian concerns at the border, including those that he created. For example, the Trump administration has failed to fully reunite the thousands of parents and children it separated since 2017, including under its morally reprehensible zero-tolerance policy. The Trump administration has also detained thousands of children and parents in family detention centers. In addition, there have been multiple reports of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities failing to meet basic standards of care and lacking proper medical care. Last December, two children – seven-year-old Jakelin Caal and eight-year-old Felipe Gómez Alonzo – tragically died in CBP custody, and many more will likely face a lifetime of trauma.

    I strongly believe that we should do everything we can to keep our communities safe, but the Trump administration’s border wall and anti-immigrant policies are not about public safety. Instead of addressing the humanitarian concerns that continue to endanger the lives of thousands of asylum seekers, President Trump has focused on separating families, blocking asylum claims, and deploying approximately 5,000 troops to the southern border to install wire fencing and barriers and increase mobile surveillance. Redirecting federal resources to fund the border wall, which will cost tens of billions of dollars and deploying military troops to the border, among other measures, are ineffective and a wasteful misuse of taxpayer money.

    On February 26, 2019, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.J. Res. 46, a resolution of disapproval to terminate President Trump’s national emergency declaration. I joined a bipartisan group of Senators in supporting this resolution, which passed the Senate on a 59-41 vote. As expected, on March 18, the President vetoed this resolution.

    The Trump Administration's policies of separating families and improperly turning away refugees and asylum seekers are inconsistent with American values. That's why I took to the Senate floor to speak out against the President's unconscionable policies. During the 115th Congress, I also cosponsored legislation, such as Senator Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) Keep Families Together Act and Senator Tina Smith's (D-MN) HELP Separated Children Act, to reunite children with their parents and end the cruel policy of separating families at the border. Additionally, I introduced several bills to ensure that immigrant children receive the care and resources they need from the time they enter our custody to the time their cases are adjudicated—the Child Trafficking Victims Protection and Welfare Act, the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act, and the Immigration Court Improvement Act.

    Instead of pursuing the costly, ineffective, and morally objectionable policies of the Trump administration, Congress should pass comprehensive legislation to reform our broken immigration system. The U.S. Senate did this in 2013 when it passed the bipartisan Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, which would have made important improvements to federal immigration policy. Unfortunately, the U.S. House of Representatives failed to consider the bill, and it did not become law.

    I remain deeply disappointed by the President's failure to provide real leadership on these important issues, and his pursuit of an extreme, anti-immigrant agenda. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind as the immigration debate continues.

    Again, thank you for contacting me. If you would like to stay in touch with me on this or other issues of importance to you, please visit my website at: http://www.hirono.senate.gov. Please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future if I may be of assistance to you in any way.

    In San Diego, we had to book an appointment in advance for IRS taxpayer assistance center. So plan ahead of time.

    The other added benefit is that they can certify your ID with your passport then and there and give it back to you right away.

    I called 2-3 weeks before to get an appointment, but it was also in the peak month of April.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Yes, they will do it for you and send it electronically for you. We thought we had to mail it in but we didn't. We actually forgot to do it, and then the ITIN came in the mail. We were surprised! So if you go to the IRS they do it for you, no need to mail anything in. Just bring everything in with you so they can verify. They also took his application even though his Visa was expiring that day and we still got the ITIN.

    Did they issue an ITIN the same day?

    How long did it take to receive your letter in the mail.

    I took my marriage certificate, but the bank didn't even need that! Just the passport. This was International Bank of Commerce which has branches in Texas and Oklahoma.

    Same with us. My wife and I opened a joint account a credit union. We had to sign some form because she doesn't have SSN/ITIN then they took a copy of her passport. There was one catch though. The bank said she couldn't be the primary on the account because she's doesn't have SSN/ITIN. So whatever.

    (Next time she visits we plan on getting her a ITIN)

    I seem to keep getting notices of estimated approval estimate for our I-130 and it keeps moving farther. When my wife got pregnant on my last visit there I was thinking we would get the visa and still have to wait for the CRBA for our second child before she can come. Now I am beginning think the baby will be ready first. At this point I will just be happy if they all get here this year. Is Nebraska just a slow processing center?

    I"m in the same boat as you. Only with our fist kid. We are hoping we'll be able to have the kid here. But we'll see.

    Finally join the club.

    Got my NOA1 and priority date 25 March.

    HOWEVER, as of today 7 April, I am still unable to check the status online, either through direct checking or myUSCIS account. Nothing comes up, and says"

    • My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283.

    "

    the receipt number is exactly as shown on the email, text, and NOA1 letter. Will there be anything wrong with it?

    It took about a week before I was able to see my case online. I know you're a bit over a week. have you tried creating an account and adding the number that way?

  14. TLDR: If you're in the US legally you should be fine. You're free to move around the country as you wish. You should be fine.

    I grew up in San Diego California, (not the fake one in Texas =P ) and would pass through those checkpoints all the time on the 5 going to LA and the 15 going to Temecula.  The only question I've been asked is "where are you going".

    Although, I was pulled in to secondary once. It's was about 3am and they asked for my ID, paperwork for the car, and if they could search my car. I was 16 at the time with 3 friends in the car.

    Like ke someone said earlier, they are mainly looking for illegals, drug runners, smugglers, or drunk/suspicious drivers.

    The check points seem to open and close randomly.  20 years ago they seemed to be open more. But the last few times I went back home I never the check points open.

    Just make sure the car is registered, has insurance, you have a valid drivers license, and I think you'll be fine. If you bring some of your paper work with you it won't hurt.

    But it I think you'll be fine.

    I have one more question hopefully someone can answer..

    He doesn't have a telephone number for one of his previous jobs but I tried "N/A" in the form and it only takes numbers, so I put in zeroes.... is there a better way to do this? There's no "not applicable" option as well

    Thanks, appreciate everyone's help and insight

    I noticed the same thing on the I-130 form. I think it has to do with the vision number. At least for the I-130, the 2/27/17 version only takes numbers in the phone number filed. The address section is limited too, you can't use "-". But the 2/13/19 version doesn't have those problems.

    But I"m not sure which is better - putting zeros or leaving it blank.

  16. I would put the location it was issued as stated on the PP.

    it might look odd if the application says PP issued in county "A" but the PP copy says issued in country B."

    it's fairly common to be issued a PP outside of your home county. My wife has a Chinese  PP but it was issued in Japan. On our paperwork we put Tokyo.  (But we submitted her application so we'll see if there's any problem)

    Wow thats odd that you got the text and they haven’t taken your money lol.

    As for the processing center (Service Center) its on the text message as your receipt information. The first 3 letters would tell you your service center.

    – EAC – Vermont Service Center;
    VSC – Vermont Service Center;
    – WAC – California Service Center;
    CSC – California Service Center;
    – LIN – Nebraska Service Center;
    NSC – Nebraska Service Center;
    – SRC – Texas Service Center;
    TSC – Texas Service Center;
    – MSC – National Benefits Center;
    NBC – National Benefits Center;
    – IOE – ELIS (e-Filing); and
    – YSC – Potomac Service Center.

    Oh nice. Thanks for the info. Looks like it went to Nebraska (LIN) Service center.
