Hope it’s not held against them when they try show a genuine marriage either...

What does he plan to do for the next year or so at home ? And she’s pregnant you said? So she’s going to have the baby alone while he’s stuck in his home country.  Supremely bad planning on their part.

I understand what you are saying, but there are always going to be folks out there willing to take the risk of cutting the line.

😂🤣😂 The probability he gets approved is as close to zero as one can get asymptotically, especially in these immigration times.

This is correct. I think thats where they are getting confused. They think he can come and go as a B1 while married and before adjusting. Basically he wanted to go home, pack up, say bye, and get back THEN adjust. He figured last 5 years he's been going and coming no biggie but this time he got stopped because he was approaching the end of 5 months of his 6 month visa and no return ticket....just a one way back to USA. Just when they thought he can get that one last visit, boom. You cant outsmart them.

In this case, I would apply for the I130 first, getting that in the system showing they intend to do things properly, then have him try applying for a B2 so he can potentially visit during the process.  Now I am not saying he will be a shoe in for a B2 with an I130 processing, but if I were a CO, to me it would look better.

I'm slightly terrified that they were willing to lie to get what they want.  I hope they realize that him telling border officials that he was there to visit friends, when it's now clear he was trying to visit his wife and adjust, has been recorded.  And that that has established your friend as a dishonest individual who will need to be subject to far greater scrutiny than other applicants.

I wish them luck.  I also wish them the gift of honesty.

It’ll be very hard for her to join him as she is currently pregnant right now. I hope they come to the realization that they could possibly lose everything they started and they should end up doing the I 130. I’m going to share everyone’s feedback with her and have her seek another lawyer‘s opinion. I hope she listens to reason.

Wouldn't be the first time a lawyer gave a client advice in support of committing immigration/visa fraud.

Yep. They are retty much going to lie!  I told her what did your lawyer tell you to do and she said her lawyer told her to just do the B1 visa. I think she’s lying. Thank you for reminding me about the DS-160. That’ll make them tell the truth.

Yes, about a year to a year and half from when you want to go back to the US, file the I-130/I-130A.  Depending on how your assets look you might need a joint sponsor.

The good news is that you will get a 10 year GC.

Let’s start from the beginning. Where is she physically right now? AOS (Adjustment of Status) implies she is  already in the US. If she came on K-1, you do not file the I-130. If she came on other visas such as  B1/2, F1, J1, ... what have you, you do need I-130. If she is outside of the US, you file I-130 but do not do AOS, she has to get an immigrant visa at the Embassy.
    So, which is it?

Hi Ellen  The first thing I’m gonna recommend you do is fill out your timeline and follow the country Iraq portal. That is where other people from the same embassy can find your thread and help answer some of these questions.

SJordanS got a reaction from Falcon Cara in If you're a US Citizen, is it difficult for parents to get a visitor visa?
Hi although many of these members have replied to you they make it sound more difficult than it really is for Jordan. I have helped many of my older relatives In Jordan apply for a tourist Visa. I know that process like the back of my hand as opposed to my own K1. The fact that their USC child lives there DOES make a difference...dont listen to what others said here.  You are the one who they will be staying with correct? They need to provide an address, contact person, number, etc to where they are staying. If you are paying for the flight or any part of their activities it can be stated in an email or letter ESPECIALLY if they dont have alot of money in their bank account. The consul there in Jordan will take in consideration their funds. If they didnt have enough money to fly and enjoy touring, how can they travel? By stating in a letter or email that they will stay with you, automatically that includes their meals....so thats also covered. More than likely they will visit and stay with other relatives Im assuming? It makes it easier that they know that too. They are older and married and have a home there in Jordan. That is their tie for the consul there. Our consul  In Jordan is usually quite lenient with older married people in Jordan ESPECIALLY if they have a USC child they will visit to help with expenses. If they have a job or business, etc, they should state that too in their application. If you send them an email, or anyone who can print it out,  communication of their trip would be great. Then a separate sheet with all of your information on it as well. Message me personally if you have more questions otherwise its pretty easy for them as all my relatives I helped all got their Visas approved.

Let's please knock off the unnecessarily accusatory posts.  The OP simply asked a question.

A perfectly appropriate answer is, "There's no need to tell USCIS a detail like that; simply divorce and file for Removing Conditions with the divorce waiver."

You must divorce, if you can't tolerate living with an irresponsible addict.  He won't change/you can't change him.
You can file for your permanent green card (Removing Conditions) with a divorce waiver.
Many, many threads discuss the process.
    Good luck.

In other words submit only what is asked and nothing more. If you supply more than what is asked for it can be used to adjudicate your case and as innocent you might think the information that you are adding it could very well come back and bite you where the hell you sit.

So sorry to hear this. This also goes to show how DHS is reviewing social networks and internet searching for what they consider high-fraud countries. Nigeria being one of them. I hope you can get this resolved.

I see now I understand. CO knew that, looked him up and read where she could find something. If she also somehow knew you were pregnant, that could have increased her cause for probability even more so. Thats the downside of being a public figure. Privacy is impossible.

To save time and another trip I would suggest you fiance' register your traditional wedding at the registry. You get marriage certificate and can then file for CR1 without leaving since you are about to put to bed. Congratulations by the way. It is well.

Hey guys. Embassy has not been responding to my emails the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago they told me they didn’t receive my file event though I could see it was delivered and signed  on DHL. Also my status changed to ready shortly after. When i try to call them, the only thing they are able to do is schedule and appointment but can’t give me information about the case. I’m at a loss. Should write a letter to the embassy?

Hey guys. Embassy has not been responding to my emails the last couple of weeks.

There is NO need to contact the Embassy. They will send you the P3 when THEY are ready. I will attach a copy so you can see that in paragraph one it states what your next steps are.

Two weeks ago they told me they didn’t receive my file event though I could see it was delivered and signed  on DHL.

Just because they received your case doesn't guarantee that on the same day, the same minute that they received your case they are going to respond to you. It doesn't work that way. The file is received and your status is changed to ready. They did their part.

Also my status changed to ready shortly after.

Get the Ethiopia K1 Embassy instructions at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hEsLWL0RE-iAoq_ny5866BsaNq1aYzB8/view?usp=sharing as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the this website as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. There are instructions of what you need to do to pay your fee and schedule your appointment when your status change to ready and that's just where you find yourself now.

Stop wasting time with calling, writing letters and such to the Embassy.

Those in this thread, are applying from various Embassies around the world and there are different processes for each. So what works in Russian, Philippines or UAE may not work for those processing through the Ethiopian Embassy. When you are at the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Ethiopia most there will help answer your questions for the processing of your visa using their personal experience.
