I think they are looking for evidence that you have a financial hardship and "need" the additional income. It's a bit tricky with K-1s since the USC is supposed to be able to financially support both parties. In our case, my hours have been reduced 40 percent due to a company slowdown resulting in a 40 percent reduction in salary. We used my pay stubs and a newspaper article about the company which supported our claim. Our request was granted.

We recently had our EAD expedite approved. We received a letter in the mail asking for evidence one week after out initial phone call. We faxed our evidence within 5 days and received an email 6 days later that the EAD/AP card would be delivered within 30 days. We have not received the card; we just got the email on Monday.
 
So 18 days from initial phone call to approval email. Waiting for the actual card.

04/12/2019 - Mailed AOS packet to Chicago via FedEx 
04/16/2019 - Packet received and signed for
04/23/2019 - Three texts received; biometrics fee received; awaiting instruction letters via US mail

You want to look at Air Letter on that link. They list timing for Toronto and Vancouver and below that is Other Cities (which would be Montreal) and the timing is 10-17 days.  I think that is business days so 2 - 3.5 weeks. Our case was already at the Manila embassy so we were able to see our case was updated once the certificate arrived. I think if your case is still at NVC, you should have no problems with having your HK cert in Montreal in plenty of time for your interview.

Finally got through on the CEAC website............................ISSUED!

R picked up the visa today at Mall of Asia 2GO. She then went to CFO-Manila and picked up the sticker. She did the CFO seminar in Sept. 2018. I will be flying out March 23 to bring her home. 

That is the long-range plan for Jan - May.
 
There is nothing better than a beautiful Minnesota summer on the lakes. Except a beautiful Minnesota fall. Great family nearby makes it a slam dunk.
