It would be unwise (and irresponsible) for someone with that diagnosis to travel internationally without insurance.

What if something catastrophic happened while he was here?  What if he ended up in an ICU bed?

Mexico is one of the unrestricted countries/territories like Bermuda, Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, South Korea, etc. After spending 2 weeks there they'll need "proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19" before boarding the flight to the US: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/fr-proof-negative-test.html

They cannot travel directly from the UK: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/28/2021-02024/suspension-of-entry-as-immigrants-and-nonimmigrants-of-certain-additional-persons-who-pose-a-risk-of "The entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of noncitizens who were physically present within the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), the Republic of Ireland, and the Federative Republic of Brazil during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States, is hereby suspended and limited subject to section 2 of this proclamation."

Not compulsory but strongly advised. Anything can happen - even something unrelated to the cancer diagnosis or something with one of the other passengers.

AllClear provide travel insurance for people with cancer. Not sure if they would with a terminal prognosis and I have no experience of them. I have just heard them mentioned a lot in a positive sense in the course of my work (I work for an airline).

My husband moved over here (US) on a K-1 in 2019. His parents and little brother are coming to visit us from England for 10 days but we just found out that his dad has terminal cancer so now, more than ever we really want them to come visit however the doctors told his dad he’d need travel insurance. His parents said they’ve been denied by 4 different companies since his cancer is terminal (but I’m not sure which ones they’ve tried). Any recommendations for a good temporary travel insurance company?

It's got to be even more difficult than usual in these circumstances. I'm a couple of years ahead of you so I'm not up to speed on the current situation with getting the essentials sorted. I got a Verizon cell phone early on, it's too much hassle otherwise. Drivers licenses vary by state so it's best to check locally. You should get a SSN sent to you with the visa you entered on. If it hasn't arrived in the mail in the next few weeks then call your local office. The subforum for everything SSN is here: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/156-social-security-numbers/

This is true. My hubby loves his family but was never super close with them and his friends weren't the greatest of friends either and had trouble saving money (pretty much since he was never tough to manage it well in the first place). He had it tough so since coming here, my family has welcomed him with open arms, he's finished his schooling by getting his GED, quite smoking, started the job he set out to get (an electrician) and is also in college for apprenticeship, has made super close friends and we just bought our first house together so he's what he calls "chuffed" lol.

My husband has been here from the UK a little over a year now. He moved here August 27, 2019. On Thursday we have our AOS interview but I really think it just depends on the person if they will like it here or not. My husband came from a very poor background so he loves it here and doesn't even want to go back to the UK to visit, even though I'm dying to go see more of London and even Scotland. The only thing he says is better in the UK is the beer but he has learned he loves the outdoors, hunting, and fishing... something that is practically impossible from where he comes from and my parents living on a ranch, he has pretty much unlimited access to what he loves. I'm really sorry she doesn't like the USA. At the beginning of mine and my husband's journey, I wanted to live over there but after seeing how hard things are over there, I would don't think I would move anywhere but the USA. I still try to throw in as much London themed stuff for my hubby as a can though when I host party's or anything. I make sausage rolls, I get online and order UK foods, I buy London décor, etc. to keep him from being homesick since I've read on here how many people were getting homesick.

Don't forget to bring copies and the original though I would suspect they may be willing to make copies of originals.

You do not need to bring all that stuff, but ask me about the Mrs. divorce decree, submitted during the I-129F, and how well that went during the ROC interview. Luckily I had all the stuff, including copies, in my folder (Or as my wife used to call it "his security blankie"). it took seconds to correct instead of days or weeks. Also she stopped calling it my blankie after that event.

At leasst you're not alone in this and believe me, immigration is a topic in other countries, too, not just the US. Hopefully our actual lives get affected as little as possible by all that BS.
    Good luck!

Yes, it is ridiculous. I'm ready to be done dealing with immigration already lol. But we still have the ROC and then actual citizenship. Hopefully it all goes by fast!

Sounds ridiculous, right? Just like the K1 interview - I brought everything they asked for and they looked at less than half of it :p
Well, I will bring it, even if I think it's nonsense. But I definitely don't want to be denied or get delays because I didn't bring sth they asked me to bring. Just hang it there, it will get better!

Another Brit here. I moved here to Manhattan, NYC in February 2019. In England I lived in the countryside in a peaceful village and all my friends and family were not too far away. I have really struggled to adjust here in the city, I have tried and failed at making friends, the only friends I have made are from VJ and are English too. They are amazing and I am so grateful to have them (I was just visiting one of them this weekend).
I work for a plastic surgeon on the Upper East Side so I meet all types of people rich, famous, young, old, British etc. but I just can't seem to click with anyone.
We live in an apartment with my MIL which has been great but is getting a little too cozy so we are looking at buying property in the new year hopefully in the suburbs as I think I would feel more at home there.
I too have that mindset of well in England this would happen and this is how we do it etc. which I know is the wrong way to think about it. I love my husband so much and he is being supportive so I am going to try and adjust to my new home, I know it will take time and it has helped reading this thread so I appreciate you starting it. I wish you all the luck and happiness for the future.

Another Brit here... I’ve been here almost 4 years and I still get homesick for small, trivial things. And I also find myself thinking “but that’s not how we do things in the UK” on a regular basis. I don’t think I’ll ever stop that but it doesn’t have to be a problem. It’s normal to compare things and look for the familiar, even if your search is in vain. Things are different. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

I’ve never been a “Disney Brit” who thinks life in the US is all warm weather, theme parks, 24-hour shopping and all-you-can-eat buffets. When I tell people back home how much snow we get in WA they are shocked -“that’s not what America is like, surely?”. To them it’s all homes with pools, t-shirt weather all year round. People even think I should be “disappointed” that I met an American but he lived in the Pacific Northwest, as if the sole basis of our relationship is a new life in the sun for me. Some of us like winter!

I guess I had a helping hand in settling here. My husband tried to get a visa for the UK but it was denied with a lifetime ban. So if I didn’t make it work here we would have a problem on our hands. I try to ignore the location and focus on the fact that I am spending the rest of my life with my favorite person in the world and the geography is irrelevant. We make our own happiness.

I’m sorry things didn’t work out for you. I hope you can both find happiness, wherever that may be.
