My husband moved over here (US) on a K-1 in 2019. His parents and little brother are coming to visit us from England for 10 days but we just found out that his dad has terminal cancer so now, more than ever we really want them to come visit however the doctors told his dad he’d need travel insurance. His parents said they’ve been denied by 4 different companies since his cancer is terminal (but I’m not sure which ones they’ve tried). Any recommendations for a good temporary travel insurance company?

UK  is under lockdown and we can not be certain when he would be able to travel

There has been talk in the UK of maybe summer but do not know how realistic that is, well nobody does and I presume they also do not want to spend 2 weeks in Mexico.

Obviously he will not be able to get cover for cancer issues,  my Mother was able to get cover otherwise but every year it was a different insurer. The UK has no end of Insurers, used to be haf the adverts on the Tube were for Travel insurers.

When are they looking at coming?

Is it a requirement that they have insurance? And I know they’re under lockdown now but hoping it’ll be lifted. We’re looking at the 1st week in July.

Not compulsory but strongly advised. Anything can happen - even something unrelated to the cancer diagnosis or something with one of the other passengers.

AllClear provide travel insurance for people with cancer. Not sure if they would with a terminal prognosis and I have no experience of them. I have just heard them mentioned a lot in a positive sense in the course of my work (I work for an airline).

Sensible they have travel insurance, I assume the mother and brother can obtain when restrictions are lifted. Not compulsory.

Medical side is the biggest element but travel insurance covers a lot of other areas.

Personally I think it is more likely by then that the UK will lift restrictions, not sure if the US will so they may be looking at 2 weeks in Mexico.

It does not have to be Mexico but that is for most the more practical and then fly up to the US.

Other than very limited exceptions people who have been in a Covid banned country, including UK, within two weeks prior to attempted entry will not be allowed into the US.

Mexico is one of the unrestricted countries/territories like Bermuda, Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, South Korea, etc. After spending 2 weeks there they'll need "proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19" before boarding the flight to the US: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/fr-proof-negative-test.html

They cannot travel directly from the UK: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/28/2021-02024/suspension-of-entry-as-immigrants-and-nonimmigrants-of-certain-additional-persons-who-pose-a-risk-of "The entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of noncitizens who were physically present within the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), the Republic of Ireland, and the Federative Republic of Brazil during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States, is hereby suspended and limited subject to section 2 of this proclamation."
