LittleBird reacted to ThomasNC1988 in Question about photos/signature?
Also with the one guy going post crazy all over the site today because he didn't realize K-1 meant staying in the US unable to work for at least 5 months its a good time to remind people to research their options.

It will soon be our time Next part of the process seems to take a fairly long time too depending on which embassy it is. I am trying not to get too excited until I hear something from there.
How are you all doing with your jobs and places to live?

LittleBird reacted to Crazy Cat in My grandfather is about to die, how can I move back to my country?
You will have to go to a USCIS office to apply for emergency advance parole.....but if you can wait a few weeks, it doesn't sound like an emergency.....

Someone please let his fiance know and advice her to cut her loss. I'm K1 visa beneficiary and reading what he's been doing to his fiance is driving me mad. Moving here to the US has made me poor. I gave up my well paid job, sold what I had and spent big amount of money to move here. I totally financially depend on my husband to get by. I can't even buy things I used to buy for myself because we're saving a lot for AOS. I'm downgrading my lifestyle and uprooted my life for a man I love. I would be devastated if I knew all I did for him was just NOTHING and he had cold feet. Thank you for destroying someone else's future by not stopping this madness before it got too f**** up! 😠

I'm waiting for the thread next month saying they got married anyhow because "he wants this to work", and now looking for a way to divorce her and send her home.
Seriously----This whole story would fill an entire season of 90 Day Fiancee.

No I hope she sees this and records every instance of how he is abusing her as, even if it isnt physical, it is abuse. Then I hope they do get married, and she divorces him on grounds of abuse so that it will appear on their divorce decree as such so that if he ever tries to do this again to another victim they will see that on the divorce decree in the petition application. I hope she files for VAWA after marriage because she will be able to, as preventing her from obtaining her GC is financial abuse. And I hope she does have an amazing life in the US after outing him for the abusive monster he really is and that she finds an amazing Amercian man, unlike him.

Are... you seriously wanting your wife to be on the US illegally? To never work? Never have driving license? Never go to school? Are you honestly serious? Because yeah she will probably bound to sit at home all the time so she doesnt get deported. She CANNOT work if you don't send out AOS.
Even if you marry but dont do AOS she will still be there illegally and deportable at any moment. Just marriage doesnt mean ####### in regards to immigrations.
...I hope she sees this and run. If she can't be here legally then what's the point? You dont even seem to care if she's with you or not. Let that woman go.
Honestly. Some people should be banned from bringing in foreign spouses.

LittleBird reacted to Paul & Marina in Military benefits for K-1 visa
Yes, the GI BIll or any sort of payment by the VA to him does count as income. He will have paperwork from the VA showing how much they paid him for the months he was going to school, or he can just print off the page from the VA website showing all payments made to him from the VA.
It counts as income, for everything other than the IRS as taxable income. It has never been on my 1040 (CPA dose it every yr.) and document from VA states as non-taxable. Have bought cars, houses andother things and all consider income, even (NVC & State Dept)for k1.

LittleBird got a reaction from ennabaer in Military benefits for K-1 visa
Hi everyone,
I have been scrolling through the threads on this forum and I haven't quite found what I've been searching for. Me and my partner filed our i-129f in the middle of October and I'm starting to think about the next step in our application.
My partner left the Navy in late 2016 and started working immediately after. In January 2018 he also started studying using his GI-bill which contains both housing allowance, book costs and a "salary" every month. This means that he is both a full time worker and a full time student getting both his military educational benefits and the salary he earns from work.
What type of papers do we need to prove that he is over the poverty limit? We will get papers stating his salary and his pay stubs from his employer but does the GI-bill count? If so what type of papers do we need for this?
Thanks a lot in advance

LittleBird reacted to Going through in Ideas to make this train wreck less painful?
This IS the "next person", as it's his second K1 filing . Thankfully, the first K1 beneficiary didn't make it as far as actually entering the States, since he got a case of cold feet only 45 days after filing for her in 2017 and withdrew the petition.
I'm hoping if he is considering a 3rd K1 later on, he takes more time to figure out if it's what he really wants---it's not just his life he has to take into consideration.

LittleBird reacted to HarryWL in Ideas to make this train wreck less painful?
Yikes.
This is the real difference between CR1/IR1 and K1 visas. K1 really doesn't really offer much of a safety set for the beneficiary once they arrived in the US and before they marry the sponsor. Knowing how long the process takes; whilst having cold feet; to then allow your fiancée to travel all the way from Europe is kinda messed up. To throw a one way return plane ticket and 2 months living expenses (by Ukrainian standards, probably isn't a lot) is pretty insulting to someone you showed intent to spend the rest of your life with.
This could make anyone skeptical about applying for a K1 visa.
