You do if you look up your FO processing times for the I485 here:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

But even so, the range of times is so wide that it's not helpful.

At my FO the current range is between 13.5 months to 30.5 months. How helpful is that?

I agree, not helpful at all. I’m starting to understand why a lot of folks have said the CR1 visa is superior to the K1, in hindsight I think we all would’ve done the latter.

I’m really hoping I can hear something on the interview atleast within 6 months.

  2. USCIS has been going crazy with the RFE regarding tax returns

myself and others sent our most recent tax return, yet USCIS sill sent a  RFE stating we didn’t.

i don’t know who is losing the paperwork, but just be aware there’s something going on with that section. Myelf and several other posters had to re-send the tax returns so hopefully it all works well

  3. Since  we’re October filers, I assume most of us will start seeing work permits being delivered around March?

Man, I’m counting down the days my foreign wife can work. She is expensive 🤫

she went to the dentist, had to get 3 crowns, and with insurance (insurance only covers half) it was $600. Now later on she has to get her teeth aligned and that will be $4000 (insurance covers $40%)

theres so many “hidden costs” that we often take for granted once as single people, that we now have to address when we are supporting someone. I will jump for joy when this work permit comes in

  4. I finished episode 4 of season 6, (I'm watching it on TLC go as they come out)

I agree with others, these couples are just too boring. I have started to fast forward the Russian and Samoan fiance. The Jamaican fiance is boring as well. Only thing I'm looking forward to is the Brazilian, Indonesia, and Mexican fiance.

These couples signed up for this show but they have no personality, sense of humor, or real drama. Atleast act and try to make it interesting.

Obviously it's interesting to see who will break up, but obviously there's no incentive for even the most disappointed fiance to do it since their only goal is clearly the green card. So I'll still watch it.

Do you guys know how much longer a RFIE will delay our AoS application? Just received one last week for my Affidavit of Support and I hope that it will not impact our timeline too much 😬

What was your RFE for? We've had several members, including me, get an RFE for  "no recent tax return" aka USCIS lost it. I don't think it will delay it by much. We sent an RFE response by monday, it arrived to USCIS by Wednesday, and USCIS updated the online case status to "RFE recived" my Friday. It was all done in a week.

I'm not too concerned about it, I'm sure the interview date will come soon. My main concern right now is getting the work permit for my spouse. Waiting 5 months for your spouse to finally work is a beating. I understand why folks said it was "hell" and I totally agree.

  6. Yeah the live shows are horrendous. They purposely make it as awkward as possible and want the cast to argue with eachother, calling up people on skype. Airing out personal and private business. In a previous season, they literally forced a cast member to call her absent fiance like 5 different times during the show as if he was going to magically  pick up

Alot of times you can tell the cast doesn't even want to be there.

  7. When is the next episode? According to the link posted by  Illiria, Colt's instagram is c.45.j and it's not on private, now im even more hooked (a massive number of followers and fans of the show are commenting on his pictures about the recent arrest).

Interesting note: it says "software engineer" on his page haha. Poor Larissa fooled by a simple occupational title.

Same situation here and I did the same, lol.

Seems like they are having troubles with tax files lately.

That's a relief, thank goodness I wasn't the only one lol.

I was always a bit skeptic about some of the stories of USCIS losing paperwrook on people but now I've experienced it firsthand lol.

Let's all hope they don't lose it again

  9. I got the exact same RFE, the difference is I actually sent in my IRS transcript, W2, paystub, etc. So it's clear they lost it.

Doesn't matter now, on monday I sent in every single tax document possible from the IRS website on my 2017 taxes. (there's 3 to 4 different categories on the IRS website and I pulled tranccitps from all of them) Plus tax returns and W2 from previous years.

They'll love the 15+ papers of tax documents I sent them and I doubt I'll be receiving any RFE on it again. 😉

  10. Quick small rant, it’s annoying when folks use the monthly AOS filing threads for questions that can be found on VJ searches, google searches, and the USCIS website.

you can literally google any immigration question about AOS and a VJ thread will pop up as the 1st result with someone asking the exact same question 7 years ago.

all my AOS questions were answered through VJ searches and google searches.

As an October filer, I’d rather see posts about wait times and green card and interviews instead of 10 posts asking “how do I fill out this form” and “what forms do I need”

Mother Colt says "She [Larissa] will have to change or things wont work out.."

Because being your 33 year old son's cook, maid, driver, BFF is so normal.   What does Debbie think.. Larissa is marrying Coltie to become child #2 in the house??  The level of dysfunction between Colt and his mommy is off the charts!

She was crying every 10 minutes, clearly at the fact her son found another woman. It’s sad and obvious that mother has used her son to replace the passing of her husband and the son is some type of autistic Aspergers guy who bit off more than he could chew in online dating. We know how this will turn out

The former marine when they went out to eat, bought one Philly cheese steak for 3 people! Talk about cheap. Her family isn't going to approve of him or his lifestyle. He's not rich enough.

The father of the Jamaican guy made my skin crawl. He sure thinks he's all that, and his son sounded like he was trying to follow in his footsteps. But now he's in America and of course we know how this couple will turn out.

When the Mexican girl was confiding in her finace's friend, I think that friend is interested Jonathan. She even said the same thing he did about the thong that was found. He seems like a douche.

I agree, Larissa is older and desperate at this point to get to the USA. Enter Coltie, her golden ticket. But I think Mother may win out in this situation.

Wow I didn’t realize he only bought one, hahaha. The former marine is working middle class with alimony and child support payments. Poor guy had to kick out his daughter to make room for his fiancé. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

The Jamacian couple won’t last 1 year. They may not even last the entire season. You have an uneducated 20 year old promiscuous jaimaican (with a promiscuous absent father) who only came for the green card and a “midlife crisis” 30 year old single mother who canceled two previous engagements and lives in an all white neighborhood with cold winters.

The Russian couple, meh, very boring it’s just a matter  if they can even afford anything without relying on mommy and daddy. The samaoan couple is a bit boring for me as well. The Hispanic couple will be interesting to see if they can stick around

It does to me. Larissa is getting older, she wants to find a rich American to take care of her.  So she goes "online shopping" for one.  She sees "computer programmer" and "Las Vegas" and gets the wrong idea.  Colte I can also see online spouse shopping easy, as I think he'd have difficulty in real life. He reminds me a lot of the high functioning autistics I know in role-playing circles. Probably a nice guy but yeah those two won't last.

Her family is obviously very controlling.  My theory is she just wants out, anyway anywhere.  He doesn't seem deceptive, I am guessing he told her roughly about his lifestyle but not having ever had any friends who are not well off, she didn't comprehend what exactly that means.

I agree. I’m referring more to the fact that Larissa didn’t figure out Colt didn’t have much money before she decided to get on a plane to get married. K1 processig takes many months and she should’ve figured out that, financially, he was being deceiving. Surely she would’ve asked to see his car and house on skype as not to be surprised.

I agree as well. Perhaps the family doesn’t like the fact she’s a single mother but either way she wants out and doesn’t care how.

Colt is a complete loser.  Look at his life, he lives with "mother" and has cats that he sleeps with and dresses up.  Now, this pretty hot Latina latches on to him for the opportunity to come to the US.  Does anybody actually think that she cares one bit about him?  And they are just awkward together.  She is looking for America that she has seen in movies.  And big city life.  She's looking for the strip, not back roads.  This is a typical case of misaligned expectations.  That seems to be the downfall of all these couples.

And she told the cameras her top 3 things:

    1. get married

    2. apply for greencard

    3. get a car with A/C

I bet that she is going to pressure him to get married ASAP, nowhere near 90 days.  Like when she got her visa, she wanted him to book a flight for the next day.  And what's with the flowers?  At the airport, loser didn't even bring flowers.  Ok, so she pointed it out, but no need to repeat it at least 3 more times.  And another awkward moment (seem to be many), they pass by a flower vending machine (never seen those before).  She asks him to buy her flowers, and he was like "$20 dollars?  NO WAY!!!"   $20 too rich for his blood.  Oh yea, this will be interesting.  Materialistic latina versus poor gringo.  She seems very desperate to get things done, probably to be able to break away from mama's boy, and find a real man.  The dynamic with her and mother should be fun to watch.

Leida seems like she actually likes that guy.  But her sister and family seem to be able to make decisions for her.  A couple of times, I heard that she's coming to America for a better life.  Sorry, but looking at his financial situation, it's pretty doubtful that she'll have anywhere a similar life to what she's used to, much less better.  She's very spoiled and I can see her getting annoyed with having to wash dishes and pick up dirty clothes.

Justin Beiber-wannabe (the kid with the pregnant Russian) is just a typical high school dropout.  Not sure how he plans to support his new family.  Not sure if grandma has the means to bring and support the Russian and her baby.

The Samoan couple are pretty boring, except watching him try to adapt to American life should be fun to watch.  He seems like a nice enough guy and says the right things.  But there will be growing pains with him trying to learn how to take care of the baby.  And she's looking for "support" so she'll be trying to get him into a job as soon as she can.  I don't mean to be offensive, but is he a little slow?

The blonde with the young Jamaican we have seen before.  Yawn!

The Mexican girl seems pretty fiesty and not taking his #######.  Not just there for the visa it seems.  I like her attitude and personality.   Seems pretty genuine while to him she's just arm candy it seems.

I’m sure the Brazilian plans to be on the Las Vegas strip seducing high rollers as soon as the green card is in hand. There is no way a man like colt who lives with his mothers is keeping a woman. Reminds me of season 5 when the morrocan man didn’t show up or answer the phone for the plus sized woman for the season finale, just using her to get what he wanted (money). Then realized she wasn’t even worth trying to get a green card for. (She has a kid, she cheated on him, she refuses I go to gym or eat healthy, etc)

The leida and former marine is another bizzare couple. Yes the show picks bizzare couples on purpose but this is at the top. She brags about how rich she grew up yet she comes to America, to a working middle class blended white family, huh? That doesn’t make any sense. I get the part where she wants her own life in amefia but this is a life she is going to want IMO.

The russian couple is just horrible, boring, and you have to assume TLC paid for the flight, train, and lodging for it all. It’s just a sad state of affairs with two young uneducated kids way in over their head.

Samaoan couple is ok, TLC is really trying to stretch a dramatic plot with this one. However it is indeed bizzare how she claimed to be a virgin then lost her virginity and got pregnant at the same time

Yup, already seen the midlife crisis single mother going to a tropical location to find a much younger man who is 100% not prepared to settle down or be a father. NEXT

The Mexican is pretty interesting. Their story seems a bit more compelling than others IMO

Yeah, didn't Coltie make some remark to the tune of Mother and i have a good thing going? That was after Mother was crying because Larissa was being so mean.

Yes, something about “we had a good thing going” and “we did this for 30 years”

the emotional mother, removal of furniture so Larissa can pick it (even though they are clearly a family of little means), the slot machine, cats, etc. all add up to some extremely bizzare over infatuated mommas boy and overbearing mother who spoils him.

I know the show said Lariss and Coltie met online but that doesn’t make sense to me. Larissa seems like a person who would turn and run if she met a person like him. My theory is that perhaps she was tired of waiting for the right one and knows her biological clock is ticking, along with the obvious advantage of moving to America, in which she though would be Las Vegas on the strip near the Bellagio with some nerd who had money.

Si me and my wife just got married here in North Carolina we need some help with all the documents we need to get together we know we need the I-485 and the I-864 and evidence of a solid marriage and all but what else ??

I used a combination of VJ, the USCIS government site, and other immigration sites. I don't know how folks can ask this question without already doing a plethora of research to know what they need.

To be fair, the instructions are right there on the USCIS site on what documents you need and how to fill out the form.

But the basics will be your AOS form, Affidavit of support form, work permit form, and advance parole form (and all the supporting documents that go with it) Good luck.

If you're thinking about getting your wisdom teeth pulled out, DON'T!

I would agree, if your wisdom teeth fit or don’t cause you pain, keep them in.

Sure theyre harder to clean but one day they may be the only teeth you have left

  17. I only found out about  this show like a month ago by accident when I was watching a different show on TLC and now... I’m addicted! Had no idea it was on its 6th season.

so now here I am, signing up for Hulu so I can finishing watching season 5 and start watching season 6.

i never thought I would’ve watched a show like this but the fact that I went through the process makes it so compellling and relatable even if some of the story is scripted for drama .

Hi all, as it relates to copies of certificates, I’m always tempted to send the original in order to not have the risk of RFE, has everyone been okay with just copies of marriage and birth certificates? Even if it had the void watermark when you copy it?

I’ve always sent photocopies of everything. Only issue now is I received a letter by USCIS saying I “didn’t send my recent tax return” so I got an RFE. So Monday morning I’m sending all last 3 tax returns, all last 3 W2, and paystubs... Again.

Its frustraing but indeed sometimes USCIS does lose paperwork, which is why photocopies are best
